Re: legal wedding vows-

We wrote our own vows, with assistance from the celebrant- she put all the legal stuff at the front, then we had our vows, then the final legal bit at the end. They should be able to assist you, or at least provide you with an example.

Re: Dresses and Budgets

Didn't have a budget as such but didn't want to spend more than $1k. Spent $700.
No regrets.
No pressure.
Dress was AA from Jay's Bridal.

Re: How much for a bar tab?

We had $1500 on the bar tab for 48 guests, a friend of mine had $2000 for 100 guests. It depends on how expensive the drinks are, and if your guests are big drinkers. Put what you can afford, you can usually add more if it runs out too early, otherwise people understand that there is only limited mo...

Re: Slight panic - reception duration

Most weddings I have been to have ended around 10.30-11.30. I guess if you friends and family usually party that late, then it'll be a great night.

Re: Rockhampton - Part 2

On Saturday I went to a wedding at Cocos at Seaspray in Zilzie. It was lovely; the grounds and gardens are very pretty and well-maintained, and the venue itself is really nice. The food was lovely and the staff friendly. There was dancing on the veranda, which had really nice views over the pool. Th...

Re: Long menus at the reception? And how do I stop dish sharing?

We had 6 entree and 6 main options. People didn't take long to order at all. And just let the waiter know that your FMIL is only allowed to order for herself, not the whole table.

Re: Rockhampton - Part 2

I went to a wedding at Kershaw House last night. The gardens are very pretty, lots of flowers. Ted Tait was the celebrant- I thought he spoke a bit quickly. The food and drink were very nice (the little dessert cakes were sooo good), but because it was a buffet, they ran out of the mains (lamb, fish...

Re: What are your minimum requirements for a house?

The best thing you can do is have a look at what's available- even if you're not planning on buying for a while, it will give an idea of what quality you get for what $$, and you get can a feel for what you like and what you don't.

Re: Bridesmaids carry light

Surely there'd be a craft market in Darwin that would sell something similar?

Re: Opinion/advice on flowers please?

I got mine from a shop in Toowoomba:
Premier Cane & Flowers
480 Ruthven St
Toowoomba
(07) 4638 1363

but there are heaps on places online that sell them- a few people here have used Floraland on Ebay.

Re: 240 dogs seized from Puppy mill

One thing I will say, is that not all pet shops are bad. We've got one here, our neighbour moved house and abandoned their kitten. The RSPCA and local shelter wouldn't take it. And if it went to the pound, it would have say a week to live. The pet shop took the kitten and sold it so it at least has ...

Re: Frangipanis V gerberas

I had silk frangipani bouquets and ones made of very thin foam for my hair, and they looked great. Not trying to make you use them, just saying in case you're still considering. I had a few comments asking me if they were real! Gerberas would look good I think: http://theweddingnetwork.co.uk/UsedIma...
