Re: Are Wedding dresses really hard to wear ?

So I went to try on my first wedding dress ever and OMG it was very hard to walk, really heavy, and they were so bloody hot. I felt like I was going to look like a idiot trying to move in them. I should add that I'm only 5ft (153cm) tall so they fit around but all I could think was they will have t...

Re: Are Wedding dresses really hard to wear ?

im a shorty too, and i wore a very full 50's style ballgown- not hard at all. some pointers though: 1. the dress needs a hoop- this makes it SO much easier to walk in, plus pushes the dress into place. 2. the dress needs to be hemmed, it almost impossible walking around in it otherwise. 3. choose li...

Re: maggie dress of bridalgown.net

Well these stores have a flawed business model then. If they can't compete, they will eventually close down. $1000 is a lot of money to people and most won't pay more than they need to. It's a business not a charity. And trust me, I know about lay offs. The industry I'm in has been laying off peopl...

Re: maggie dress of bridalgown.net

its not ripping people off. stores put 110% markup on the gowns, this including the gst. do you expect these stores to exsist without making a profit? the gowns are also coming to the stores through a distributor, who also need to make a profit to be able to survive. you basically, by buying from th...

Re: maggie dress of bridalgown.net

I bought my maggie from them and there is no doubt its the real deal. I did heaps of research before buying and the answer is that bridalgown.net have several bridal stores that have their own business names, and are authorised stockists, which is how they can order the genuine article, but the bri...

Re: Buying Wedding Dress Online from Asia

those cheap nasty asian rip offs are made in sweat shops by kids who should be in school, to make a better life for themselves, instead of behind a sewing machine so privileged western women can feel like a princess on the cheap for their "special day"

Re: Is it just me or is this rude??

actually, you CAN tell them that their daught is not invited. in fact, i would be getting your fmil to do it for you, since shes the one who insisted they were invited. its incredibly rude to just bring along another person to someone elses wedding.

Re: What has annoyed you about other peoples weddings?

Don't leave your groom in charge of doing "his" side of the family for thank-you's either - they will NEVER be done! My FBIL's wife did this - needless to say, we never received a thank-you letter & neither did any of the family. Given we all travelled to NZ for his wedding, most of t...

Re: Creases in dress? Can it be ironed?

ask them to steam the dress again before you take it and make sure the crease is gone, just in case they have pressed the crease into the fabric. its easily done.

Re: Who should i get to make my dress??

I wonder if his other designer would actually be making the copy herself, or ordering a cheap chinese one & selling it off as her own??? i doubt it, the china copies are horrendous and the dressmaker would know she wouldnt be able to pass off the gown as made by herself. Vicki- congrats- i have...

Re: Who should i get to make my dress??

nobody will make the dress as well or as detailed as the designer who created it. nobody. also, its unethical of the dressmaker down the road to outright copy one of he3r competitors designs. if you dont mind, who is the designer of the gown you like? i work on high st in bridal :)

Re: Babies at reception

^^ in that case, simply say that her newborn is welcome because the baby is reliant on her, but if the child isnt breastfeeding then they are not on the guest list, along with everybody elses children. its not fair for you to allow her child and not others. also, its your wedding, and your wishes.

Re: What has annoyed you about other peoples weddings?

I don't see the big deal. I have been on the receiving end of it many times and it never worried me, I thought it was quite fun. Even after I had been with FH (not engaged) for 5 years I participated in one and gave my all! I think some people take the idea of it waaay too seriously, as far as I'm ...

Re: Babies at reception

its pretty unreasonable to expect new mothers to leave their newborns at home. especially if they are exclusively being breastfed- is the child to go hungry? i think if you tell her no, you have to be understanding when she declines the invite. however, her expecting to be able to bring the older ch...

Re: What has annoyed you about other peoples weddings?

Agreed about the single ladies bouquet toss etc... I waited 7 years for my fh to propose- I certainly wasnt single and towards the end of that 7 year period I was pretty devastated that we werent yet engaged- so being forced to stand in front of a room filled with people to proclaim this devastatio...

Re: Fiancé doesn't want a bridal dance - what to do?

i am a firm believer in not making people do things they dont want to do. he doesnt want to dance- dont make him. my husband didnt either, and i was like "cool, but i do want to have these things at the wedding though"

pick your battles.
