Re: Bar Tab?

We spent $2200 for house wine, 5 different beers and soft drinks. No spirits - 97 people, not all drinkers and about 5hrs service.

So, I would budget a bit more.

Re: Drinking red wine at reception?

Just don't worry about it ! You bought your dress for having a great time on your special day, why should you let worries about the dress possibly getting a stain keep you from doing whatever you feel like ? No wedding dress is pristine at the end of the night anyhow. And in most cases you will be ...

Re: Do you know the name of this flower?

I had them and a mixture of Australian natives in my bouquet, I loved it!!! I think the colours have been touched up by my photographer - but I loved the bouquet because I didn't have to worry too much about drying out and sensitive flowers! http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s292/wenji_photos/girls...

Re: changing names!

Do you know if you also have to pay at the bdm to have your name officially changed there to??? that's what totally had me confused. Or is that just if you want to change your entire name to something completly different (like Phoebie did on Friends lmao). :?: I believe you can have it changed, wit...

Re: changing names!

Done a bit more searching through Google, looks like I have to suffer through the wait of getting my Marriage Certificate (I hate going to BD&Ms), paying another fee and producing a certified copy certificate and not the certificate we received on the day...agh...

Re: El chepo wedding

Sounds like a cool wedding to me. Like others have said, I wouldn't factor it being her thrid wedding into the equation other than perhaps it being the reason they are doing it "their" way without the expense and hoo-haa! If it were a friend of mine, I would be more than happy to be entert...

Re: Advice on relaxing and staying calm leading up to wedding

The more you try and perfect things, the more you will be stressed out on it possibly not working out. I wasn't unorganized, but I was determined not to be a bride that had to have everything perfect and matching - result was the absolute best day of my life! I was only stressed out because DH was a...

Re: Where to draw the line...

We had a no children/baby request at our wedding and there were no issues. One of our friends who had JUST had her baby got her sister to babysit even before we discussed it with any of our friends. There were so many of our guests who have children under 2, but all of them were really good at organ...

I'd try and ask them verbally....but in reality, I would probably just invite both and let them work it out amongst themselves as to whether or not they both will come.

Re: What are you doing with your flowers?

I placed mine in front of me on the bridal table. I asked my mum to mind them when we went on honeymoon. I plan on drying them out and making my own paper from them - basically using the petals to mix in with homemade paper - I hope to make some nice sheets and make a lamp shade from the paper - pro...

Re: place cards and seating plans/maps

What a brilliant idea! I wish I had thought of something as creative as this! How about mailing people their boarding passes once they send in their RSVPs. OR get someone to hand them out after the ceremony. When they arrive at the reception, have someone collect them and point them to where they ar...

Re: Toowoomba & Darling Downs - Part 2

I've read that some people are giving an extra special gift to their parent's because they are helping out, both financially and non financially. What if one set of parent's contribute a hell of a lot more than the other, should they get a bigger gift or the only gift? Can't really ask FH cos he mi...

Re: Would it be wierd having 3 bridesmaids and 2 groomsmen?

Nope, I don't think it's weird and I actually like the look of uneven bridal parties. That being said, I would tell your FMIL off for even HINTING at you HAVING to ask the FSIL. How rude! It's YOUR decision! The girls you choose should be people that YOU have a close relationship with and can depend...

Re: Toowoomba & Darling Downs - Part 2

Asked FMIL about contributing $$ towards the Wedding basically got a no so I'm pretty upset atm, it's just confirming what I already know though so I guess I should just get used to her not liking me. : ( I'd leave that to your FH to discuss with her (sorry, I am not sure the whole story for you - ...

Re: What can the Groom NOT see?

My FH saw the picture of my dress but not the dress itself before the wedding. It was cute, he went into my spare room where it was kept and ran out screaming "put it away, put it away!!!" Didn't know we couldn't see each other the night before, I just thought it was the morning of the wed...

Re: The Wedding Night - Where are you staying??

We had to stay at a hotel/B&B because we had a wedding away from home. COuld have stayed at my parent's house but ...no way. I might have considered staying at home if we were married near our house, but then again it was nice to be somewhere different. We ended up staying at this heritage B&...

Re: HELP BUDGET NRTH BRIS REC'S ???? (SORRY IT'S A LIL LONG!)

I used Simpson's Flowers on Queen's Road, Everton Hills - wholesaler who also sells direct to the public. Carl, the florist, did an AWESOME job at I thought a reasonable price. Although I am sure you can do it cheaper if you DIY. They may sell the "flowers only" to you at a discounted pric...
