Re: Feeling lonely and bored

I cant expect my friends to just drop their plans to see me on the weekends DH is away. Find a hobby and really get into it. You will meet like minded people, which will mean you will make more friends. It gives you something to do when your DH is away, something to focus on and something to look f...

Re: Feeling lonely and bored

My DH is FIFO so I can relate. The first month or two after the wedding was hardest as we had almost 2 months off together for the wedding, honeymoon then christmas and new year, so to go back to being without each other was hard. Especially because at the time we were living in Perth, away from our...

Re: What to do with the dress?

I have mine for sale. In all honesty, I havent even looked at it since the wedding. It is dry cleaned and in a special garment bag waiting for a new owner. I will be a little bit sad when it goes but the practical side of me realises that I will always have the photos and video to remind me of it an...

Re: How much is okay to ask your bridesmaids to spend?

I'm going to have to disagree with most of you girls. My girls only contributed $25 to my wedding and that was half the cost of their shoes, I paid for the rest. Yes it's an honour to be asked to be a bm but they are not there to help us pay for the wedding. I believe that you should only have as ma...

Re: Question... The week before the Wedding...

I found I wasnt that busy in the week I took off before the wedding. We had last minute appointment with our photographer, beauty appointments, made OOS and rose petal cones, the rehersal, final suit fitting, picking friends up from airport. But really that was only wed/thurs/fri of the week and spr...

Re: Fingerprint tree guest books

We did this and used a green ink pad and it worked perfectly. I bought ours as a package from an etsy seller (the personalised wedding tree poster, a sign to explain what to do, an inkpad and a felt tip pen) so they may have supplied a particular type of ink. I cant remember the brand of the ink tho...

Re: Are my vows to long??

Dhs vows were 177 words and mine were 222 words and they were fine. I wouldnt worry about it, the vows are the most special part of the ceremony and if you are happy with what you have written then leave it :D

Re: Where to honeymoon?

We stopped at mauritius on the way home from our honeymoon in mainland Africa. It was pretty expensive though, both flights and accommodation. We loved it because it was just what we needed after an action packed few weeks in africa- just lying on the beach relaxing, cocktails and massages. But othe...

Re: Chairs for ceremony...

Im going to go against the grain and say we had those white plastic chairs included at our venue but we ended up paying a company to bring in the white wooden folded ones. We paid $6 a chair and for us it was worth it because we just felt they looked so much nicer than the plastic ones. It was a bit...

Re: Insufficient garden maintenance at wedding venue

Tara, when did you visit, was it mid week? We got married at Tatra in December and my parents visited the venue a few weeks before for the final appointment and my dad felt the gardens werent up to scratch either when he visited so he had a word to the manager. On our day they were beautiful. Becaus...

Re: What you actually spent...

We can afford a big day because we are both fortunate enough to have decent paying jobs. We don't have any debts at this stage and we are disciplined about saving for the day. Agreed. We both have well paying jobs. We've also been together for nearly 7 years and have been saving for the wedding for...

Re: Recommend a veil supplier. China? Ebay? Elsewhere?

I bought a cathedral length one of ebay seller Veils by Leslie, and I also bought a fingertip length one from etsy seller kathyjohnson3 which I was also very happy with. Both were lovely quality and a good price

Re: Matching flower bouquets?

My girls had a different bouquet to me, mostly different flowers but the same sort of look http://i404.photobucket.com/albums/pp128/scholeske/ljp_kg2_0387.jpg I think it will look lovely as long as the bouquets are not too different. I like the bride having a slightly different bouquet to the BMs an...

Re: Ceremony rehearsal - worth having??

Thanks girls - I was leaning towards having one for these reasons. Unfortunately my parents don't arrive till 3 days before the wedding, so they'll miss the rehearsal - but I'm sure my dad will work it out on the day! I just got an email from my BM asking if we're having one, as she's nervous about...

Re: Ceremony rehearsal - worth having??

It was definitely worth it! It just put everyones mind at ease as to where to stand and how things would run (ie. what to do when we are signing the register etc). I think it was most helpful for the BMs, as one BM couldnt attend and she was nervous about where to go and and where to stand, but the ...
