Re: keeping maiden name professionally, help please

Thanks for that, my aim is to have to do away with paying for a silent phone number and if my client's don't know my new name, they won't hassle me at home. I shall see how long I last.

keeping maiden name professionally, help please

I am seriously contemplating keeping my maiden name for work purposes (eg, all my business cards will be maiden name and to clients will refer to me as Ms B instead of Mrs A) for a while, but will be changing to my married name privately. So all my id and bank accounts etc will be under my married n...

Re: How long did it take you to "clean up" after the day?

Just over a month for me and that's just a tidy. All our gifts are put away or being used. Dress is cleaned and hanging in the plastic bag it came home, I'm not sure what to do with it. Left over things like ribbons, decorations, and our wedding cards are sitting in a draw until we work out what to ...

Re: Toowoomba & Darling Downs - Part 3

The man who was the Dj was not good at picking the songs to be played on a row like a very slow dance then a very fast one straight after so it was up and down up and down so quiet a dew people had to have words with him basically recommending songs all night I think this is what she's cranky about...

Re: Toowoomba & Darling Downs - Part 3

any one no of any good and not so expensive celebrants and djs? We used muzic4u, and from memory it was just over $500. The main guy Peter does basic dancing lessons at St Thomas More's for free if you use them. We were told we were going to have some guy do our wedding (can't remember his name), w...

Re: Is this rude? Or am I being dramatic?

Can you invite her to the wedding ceremony? Or did you specifically talk about the reception too? This is a very good question. if you just used the word wedding I'd be inclined to only inform her say 3 months out of the time and place of the ceremony ONLY if you don't feel as though you can take b...

Re: Notice of Intended Marriage Lost

We signed the notice just after Xmas and gave it to our Pastor then. I really don't want the worst case scenario, that's what I keep dreaming. The notice is now definatly lost in the post so it's now up to our pastor and BDM to work out what to do, and soon I hope

Re: Notice of Intended Marriage Lost

Apparently it needs to be given to the Pastor/Minister/Preist/Celebrant not less than 1 month before the wedding day and they then lodge it with BDM any time. Update - BDM are checking interstate cos our Pastor is interstate, but if it's not there she assures me that our marriage is still binding an...

Notice of Intended Marriage Lost

I sent my application to Births Deaths and Marriages for a copy of the marriage certificate in March. I have now been told by BDM that they do not have the Notice of Indented Marriage, which our Pastor sent in 2-3 weeks after our wedding (bout the same time I lodged the application). After 6 calls t...

Re: How early do people arrive?

We had music organized for half an hour before the start of the wedding. From the photos, it appears that only 10 people (5 of which were DH's parent's and young siblings) arrived between 2:30 and 2:50 for a 3:00pm start. So I wouldn't be too worried about music playing too early cos if your guests ...

Re: Are you getting a Brazilian for the wedding

My lady did a few plucks with tweezers to get like 2 or 3. I did have a few tiny sections where some hairs were too short to wax (cos I couldn't remember how long it had been since I shaved), and she told me just to shave those bits a few days later and then leave them til the next wax.

Re: Are you getting a Brazilian for the wedding

I shaved for 10 years and was so sick of ingrown hair and the itchy feeling when it starts to grow back, and DH was so sick of me putting off shaving. So I had my 1st brazilian 4 days before the wedding. I was so nervous about going in to get it done, as only DH and my Dr have seen down there and we...

Re: what to call your parents-in-law?

I call MIL and FIL by their first names when I'm talking to them, but when I'm talking about them I actually call them MIL and FIL. MIL wants me to call her Mum, but it just feels wrong. I just figure when we have kids we'll just call them what the kids call them, nanny and poppy or whatever.

It's hard to believe that the 1 month anniversary is just about here. We're going to Lady Ga Ga for ours, which really was just a coincidence, but now a great excuse.

Re: Guest list- family members

We didn't have this problem as my entire family (including extended) consists of 13 people (well now 14 with DH) and all of DH's cousin ( a big 7) I met last Christmas when they came up so we had no problem inviting them. I agree with this though Our rule is if they haven't met one of us then they a...

I really want to add my advice here too, but just about everything said in this thread is absolutely true and I used all the applicable bits of advise I could and really don't have anything to add. ...... Actually I can think of one thing, but that is it - delegate someone to take the guest book fro...

Keep or Sell?

Just wondering how many of you have kept or have sold your wedding dress. So I thought I'd start a poll to see.
