Re: Parasols at a beach wedding?

It'd probably look nice but I don't think paper parasols would offer a huge amount of relief from the sun. And they might get in the way for people sitting/standing behind them.

Re: When to send out STD?

I agree with Dan about people not forgetting. We had magnet strips on the back so everyone had them on their fridges so people didn't forget. I'm pretty sure we're still on heaps of fridges actually :e_think:

Re: RSVP Frusteration

I think every single person experiences someone who doesn't bother RSVPing. It's so frustrating! I hated hearing "I assumed you knew we were coming" I felt like saying "No sweetie, it's too expensive to be making assumptions about people coming". Just be prepared to chase ...

Re: beach wedding theme ideas

I got married on the Goldy. The ceremony was meant to be at Greenmount lookout but we got rained out so we held it on the deck at Tugun SLSC (where the reception was held). We had our pro photos taken at Elephant Rock and at a bus stop (I think it was on Marine Parade at Coolangatta?). We had wanted...

Re: To bustle or not?

I bustled for my entrance into the reception. It was pretty quick and easy to put up but (depending on your dress, of course) you might not want to do quickly in front of people. My BMs had to get down on their knees to find the little loops to put the dress up. I'd had the train down for the ceremo...

Re: Pre-wedding nerves?

Just soak up everything that's happening. Having your BMs/friends/family around on the day will definitely help, as will getting your hair/make up done (because it's such a distraction). You'll be so caught up in the excitement of it all that the nervousness will still be there, but in the shape of ...

Re: Button holes -who should wear them?

We had buttonholes for DH, 3 groomsmen and both fathers. We also had corsages for both mothers and sisters that weren't in the bridal party.

Re: When to send out STD?

I think ours were about 11 - 12 months in advance, for the same reason - we knew lots of people would be booking accommodation.

Re: To keep or throw original bouquet?

I kept mine and used a throwaway. It's currently sitting with all my wedding stuff that I saved (sample invite, wedding shoes, a centrepiece, etc). It'll probably just remain in the cupboard but I'm glad I have it.

Re: How Long to receive marriage certificate?

Does it make a difference which name you use on their marriage certificate? How do they check? Our celebrant didn't check any ID or anything. I think it can take up to 2 weeks for the marriage to be registered with BDM, then you can apply for the certificate straight away (go in person to BDM or app...

Re: What has annoyed you about other peoples weddings?

I'm another one who's glad to see that not everybody expects a thank you card. We did intend to send them out and could well still do it (though they will be very late by that time). Between them being thanked in every single speech on the night, as well as thanked personally when we went around to ...

I was a 12 in normal clothes and went down to a 10 in Maggie Sottero dresses (I think they use USA sizes).

Eta: I got a corset back dress.

Re: NWR low back dress - bra options ?

There are ones made for low backs, where they have extra long straps, so it doesn't just go around your back like normal, it crosses low on your back and then does up at the front, so it wraps around your body. I've used these before and they worked fine for big boobs, so I assume they'd work just ...

Re: Where do you hang your dress?

Mine hung in our cupboard in it's garment bag. It was over the winter period though so there was no humidity for it to 'sweat'. We had to travel 9 hours by car to get to our wedding location so there was no point hanging it up to get the creases out, only to fold it all back up to put it in the bag....
