Re: Ideas on how we should get married

You could always elope -just the two of you - and then come back and have a big party. You could maybe have your ceremony videotaped and play it for everyone at the party. If you didn't like the video or would be shy to show it to everyone, then you can just keep it for yourself.

Re: Wedding attire on invitations

To be honest, on the day, you'll be so wrapped up in what is happening, you will barely even notice! I think most people know what is appropriate and wear something suitable. I always prefer to be over-dressed than under-dressed and treat weddings as the perfect excuse to get dolled up. But hey, if ...

Re: garter toss

We didn't do it and didn't replace it with anything. I personally hate the tradition (especially hated it when I was single and dragged up on the floor to participate) and if you don't like a particular tradition, my theory is you shouldn't have to do something that makes you uncomfortable or has no...

Re: Including statement supporting gay marriage

Yep, that's what I thought - the celebrant has to say that particular phrase about being between a man and a woman - as per the legislation definition. But if you wanted, there would be nothing stopping you from saying something additional. To be honest, saying something like "those in society ...

Re: Separate hair and makeup, or someone who does both?

I booked at a salon, hair was done by one lady, then another lady did my make up. I think if you were only having yourself and one other person, that the same person could probably handle doing both (if they were skilled at both) but if there are going to be more than that, I think you would probabl...

Re: Ebay Feedback - need advice

As I said, just my opinion. And TasKaz only mentioned the 5 months notice after my post. I didn't mean "suck it up" in a negative way, maybe "just let it go" would have been better. I meant, to not let it stress her, especially if they were due to arrive the next day - sometimes ...

Re: Groomsmen gift - is a tie enough?

Personally, I don't think the guys would be expecting a gift for being groomies, they probably aren't even aware of the tradition! So I would say the tie would be fine. Honestly, if your groomies are anything like my guy, they wouldn't even notice the embroidery  If anything, depending on budg...

Re: Ebay Feedback - need advice

No offence, but compensation for what? You haven't suffered any loss or damage. I agree it is not good service (she has made a promise and not delivered) and I personally wouldn't leave positive feedback (I would go with neutral and maybe just comment that postage was not as fast as promised). But (...

Re: What % typically RSVP 'yes'

I think it depends so much on so many different factors - the number of people invited and how close these people are to you (close family will make the most effort to be there whereas others/acquaintenances may not be quite as dedicated), the timing of your wedding, location and distance people hav...

Re: Laser hair removal?

I'm with you Stormageddon - burns and blisters and a graze like scar. Not exactly what I wanted for my "delicate" area!! I gave up. It did work for a while but short of submitting myself to that same torture over and over (and they still say you have to go back every 6-12months for a "...

Re: Wedding Entertainment- YAY or NAY?

I was going to suggest to bocce idea, if you have a nice grassed area. Hey you could also put a few board games out and about (Pictionary and Taboo immediately spring to mind) to get the mingling and laughter starting!! Would be a bit different and give people a laugh (especially if there is also ch...

Just thought of another one - picnic down at the beach at sunset (or local park), for no other reason that just to sit, chat and enjoy a nice moment.

Re: What is something nice to do for FH/DH?

I quite often do the note thing and DH loves it. I went overseas without him for work for 3 weeks and left little notes in all these obscure places - some I knew he would find straight up (like in his cereal box), others which would hopefully take a few more days. I didn't give any clues as to where...

Agree too but unfortunately payng for a "name" these days, doesn't always mean better quality, just better marketing. You just have to be savvy enough to see past the marketing glitz and make an informed decision about what you are actually getting.

My sister wore mine, and then when she came up to be my witness on the registry docs, she gave it to me and my hubby put in on next to my wedder.
