Re: Adelaide - Part 2

We are doing something a bit different for our wedding day. We contacted Cleland Wildlife Park and they have agreed to let us have our wedding there if we are happy to basically be guinea pigs as they are in the process of setting themselves up for weddings and larger events like that. It's a bit r...

Re: Sydney Venues without a real time limit

Hey - Does anyone know of or have any ideas for reception venues in Sydney that do not have a time limit? My fiancee does not like the idea of everyone having to pack up and leave at 11:30; he feels that people should have the choice to leave when they want to. He would even be happy for a 1am curf...

I would do it in a heartbeat - but probably I won't get around to it!

Re: Rough cost of dress alterations (TAS)??

I got my wedding dress altered many a year ago now (ok, 5), to take it up at the hem and in at the bust. It ended up costing me $150 at a tailor instead of a bridal store. The dress that I had had a lot of beading detail on it too, but they managed to work around it. You could also look into home t...

Re: Colour-matching the Bridal party - essential??

Here is our wedding - its a bit hard to tell, but if you look carefully at Mr LIW you can see he is wearing a cream tie with the white shirt. Also given our boys did wear suit jackets and vests it makes it a bit more difficult as there is not a large amount of white on show. I hope it helps a littl...

Re: Rough cost of dress alterations (TAS)??

When I worked in a bridal salon we said allow $100 - $500 for basic alterations. Basic alterations include a hem, bustle and nipped in at the bust and waist. The price generally depends on the amount of beadwork/ruching/lace more so than whether the gown is silk/satin/polyester etc.

Re: Colour-matching the Bridal party - essential??

My dress was cream and the boys wore white shirts. I don't think it looked terrible. But then I guess I am biased :)

Re: Where do you put the wishing well?

We put ours on a large table that had the cake, some decor, room for physical gifts and the wishing well/birdcage, it was a huge table that seated 12 though so no lack of room!

Re: making your own wedding dress, any one done it?

I have heard of devices called sewing machines. I think they live in the little store that I take all of my broken clothes to be fixed at.

No there is no freaking way I did or could have made a wedding dress! I would however love to see photos of any ladies have made!

Must be the day for Thai - I am doing a green curry tonight but not in the slow cooker as I am nowhere near prepared enough for that.

Re: Share your: Polish Art

My tip is to use glitter polish. Just really subtle ones by OPI as they seem to have a longer life span. That said it means the difference between one day and three days chip free!

Re: dress way over budget!!

Given they make on site I would not recommend getting someone to copy it - you wont get the same quality and its frankly a little mean to the designer. See if they can reduce the price with cheaper materials. Otherwise write down what you like about it and try to find something more affordable. $1,0...

Re: dress way over budget!!

LIW would have helped you out - but she got offered a job in the old profession that was too darn good to refuse.

What store is it though? I might be able to help anyway :D

Re: Question about dress-dye top part from pink to ivory?

It would be cheaper and far safer to buy a new dress. Dying from blush to ivory would be very difficult if not impossible. I like your gown, it is different yet still very pretty.

Re: Dress with a detachable train

I cannot do you a short one but there is a Sophia Tolli with a slinky gown underneath a detachable train here.

Not a lot of people know but Sophia Tolli is the former designer for Maggie Sotterro and she does do a lot of detachable trains if that is what you are looking for.

Re: Choosing a Wedding Dress is giving me panic attacks

So I was looking for some reassurance, because I am two weeks out from having to choose my wedding dress and the thought of making a decision is giving me anxiety attacks. My Mum will be in town and the only other time she will be here between now the the big day, is less that 6 months from the wed...

Re: Choosing a Wedding Dress is giving me panic attacks

Dont put too much pressure on yourself to have a 'Say Yes To The Dress' moment - I personally never had a 'OMG This is IT" moment but I was perfectly happy with my gown and there was nothing I would change. Once you have a gown that you like, that you would not change anything about and that fi...

But whatever, just if you are internet shopping please be respectful of salon members time and do not come in and try everything under the sun on with no intention of buying instore. Anyway, re the surcharg...
