My MiL bought ours from a shop in Chatswood. She's O/S atm, but if you can hold 'til next week when she's back, I'm sure I can let you know exactly where.

Thanks sylvatin, that would be great actually. My mum's friend couldnt get one so I would be interested in checking out the place in Chats :)

Re: Traditional Chinese dresses in Sydney?

I was looking for a cheongsam quite recently in Sydney and looked all over the place! I found that the best places were paddys or cabramatta. There is a lady in cabramatta who has a dressmaking store who will alter the dress for you for free if you arent a standard size (taking in or out). My mum en...

Re: Dilemma re NZ (home) or Destination (well, Whitsundays)

Sorry to hear about your grandmother. I had to make a similar decision when I started planning. I wanted a small overseas wedding ( i worry about hosting big parties if everyone is having a good time) but my fh family wanted a bigger one in NZ. We ended up going with that because my mum wanted to do...

Re: Opinions on favour & place name in one

I'm purposely making my place card my favor as well! The style of my wedding is modern and simplicity so I really love the idea of having a bar of chocolate that also acts as the place card. Here is the inspiration and my very rough proof of concept (whether i could diy it) below. I'll be printing t...

Re: Chinese Weddings

Dan, I had the opposite. My mum went from wanting to have a "western" ceremony in NZ and a "chinese" one in Malaysia to cancelling the Malaysia one and not having a tea ceremony at all to now wanting to have a tea ceremony at my wedding in NZ! She did want it in the morning too b...

Re: November 2010

I felt the same way. Some how I was feeling ok before and after a few weeks of not being able to do wedding prep I felt completely behind. I have been working day and night for the last 2 weeks and I mailed my invites today. Yay! I need to start working on all the other things now...like what cake I...

My first purchase was the bridesmaid dresses - which then chose the colour for our wedding! Luckily my 2 bridesmaids and I all loved the same dress!

Re: How involved is your fiance?

My fh is interested in the wedding planning. He's like my quality control. We've been making invites the last 2 weekends and they wouldn't have turned out half as nice if it wasn't for his input. he's a bit of a perfectionist which does annoy me at times but in this case paid off!

Re: im starting to get worried

Completely agree - the first question any dress store will ask is when is your wedding and they will praise you if you see them before the 6mth mark. Primarily because they have to order the dress and then it takes time to alter it which nearly everyone has to in some way or another. Best advice whi...

Re: Cardstock for invites

Great questions - I've been wondering the same thing for my invites! Thanks CB I check the art store "Riot" in my local mall and I didnt think they were very cheap so its good to get a few options from here. But I agree its hard to pick paper without seeing and touching it to know if its t...

Re: Taking pics while dress shopping - OK?

While we're there I'm going to take Mum MOB outfit shopping - where would be best to go? Um not sure - I haven't been shopping with my mum yet for hers! Not sure if Takaka will have a big selection. I would probably try and go for a trip to one of the bigger cities like Wellington or Christchurch a...
