Re: Outdoorsy venues for 350 guests - SYD

Mount Annan Botanical Gardens is lovely - you can have it under a marquee on the lawns near a lake.

The weather might be a PITA being outside, but its worth a shot.

Re: Breastfeeding infant not invited

I understand that it's their wedding and they have the right not to have babies there but they have left us in an impossible situation. I've decided that, if they can't bend their rules to have their infant nephew at the wedding, then they don't really want us there anyway so they just aren't worth...

Re: Breastfeeding infant not invited

Is it your brother, or your FSIL calling the shots?

I am not a fan of kids at weddings, but a breastfeeding baby is different.

If it were my brother I would tell him to suck a fat one and not go. It's his nephew.

Re: Wedding day underwear

I had totally non-sexy underwear for the actual day. My strapless bra was solid to be comfortable for the day, and I had plain white bonds undies on. I was comfortable, nothing was digging into my ribs, nothing was riding up my butt and I felt great! When we got back to the hotel, I had some stuff t...

Re: How to handle the kid situation?

Who is paying? If it's you guys - TFB...you have the people you want there. If there is no reason that the out-of-state kids can't stay with their grandparents, besides their parents being precious, then they don't come to the wedding...simple. If it's the ILs paying, I would probably go with ceremo...

Re: Guest Accommodation Tips

I just called a hotel that I knew was reputable and in the area. I asked if they did a group booking discount, and they offered rooms about $15-$20 cheaper then the advertised rate. They also sent us little slips to put in the invite (they were ugo so I made my own) which had a code to quote when bo...

Hi girls!!

I still stalk from time to time!

Can I just say re: OOS. 1 per couple is MORE then enough. I threw about 1/3 of ours out because they were handed one per couple. And most people didn't actually follow it along or keep it!

Just trying to save some time and effort!

Re: FYI - House of Brides and Alfred Angelo

The dresses are genuine, but AA no longer supplies houseofbrides.com

Consequently, they are now only selling what they have in stock. So if you see a new AA dress, you will not be able to order it from there.

Re: R u introducing parents &or grandparents at the reception?

After reading this I have decided that we will introduce parents before the bridal party. Will be a lovely touch I think, like others have said. Can I ask what were the songs you used for the parents? I'm struggling to come up with either 1 or 2? Our parents walked into the song they had their firs...

Re: I'm worried my guests will get bored

If your guests get bored at a wedding...there is something wrong with them! If you think about it, eating often takes 1.5 - 2 hours of the night, followed by all the formalities, and by the end, there is usually only about 2 hours of time that isn't filled with something happening. Most people are h...

Re: R u introducing parents &or grandparents at the reception?

FH wants to introduce parents but my dad is single and I don't want him to walk in by himself. Plus FH's parents have shown no interest in our wedding so I don't want to signal them out as special guests My friends mum is single and she had one of her grandsons walk in with her. It didn't look out ...

Re: wedding invitation wording - partners?

I played it by ear. I didn't put any names on the save the dates. I just said "J and C getting married on 09/07/11. Please save the date, invites to follow" I don't like writing "plus one" on the invite, as I don't want some random booty call showing up to my wedding. Unless of c...

Re: Urgent! Need to find a church

What sort of west are you talking?

I got married in St Paul's Catholic Church which is Camden (so south-west)

Outside was sandstone, but it was very modern inside.

Re: Bomboniere - how many guests took them home?

I had home made gingerbread cookies that were in the shape of a bride and groom. Except for the really drunk people and my PIL, they were all taken, or eaten on the night.

Edible definitely. Chocolate hearts are a great choice!

Re: How far out can you

I ordered my dress 6 months before the wedding. It was altered 3 days before the wedding, because like you, I was trying to lose as much weight as possible.

Sure I wasn't leaving myself any room for error, but I had a good alterationist I trusted and it was a little bit expensive, but worth it!

Hey Agape - just out of curiosity (being a Sunday bride), what's the deal for us?? :D *If you are unhappy with something about the wedding (timing, no children etc) come and talk to the bride or groom about it. Don't b!tch to other people about it, certainly not at the reception, where the bride ca...

Re: Wedding etiquette

That being said, if you are unhappy with where you are sitting don't take it upon yourself, when you arrive at the venue an hour earlier, to swap your place card for someone elses. I spent ages doing table arrangements, mixing up friends and ensuring people don't sit with people they don't like, fo...

Yeah I don't get the whole "no black" thing either. I have a fat ***, black makes it look smaller. I am going to a wedding next Friday. My dress is black (albeit with a pattern, and gasp! horror! there is white detail in the pattern) Some from my wedding: *If the reception starts at 5.00, ...

Re: DIY wedding program cover design - need help

Here is the front cover of mine.

I just googled pretty borders and if you use microsoft publisher, you can change the colour of the image to whatever you want.

We just printed it on white cardstock and they turned out perfect.
