Re: Am I being a Bridezilla about my FH's daughter?

In my opinion you don't have to have both a ring-bearer & a flower girl - I think you said the 13 year old boy has already been asked to be a ring bearer & is really excited about it. If he wants to do it then I reckon you should just let him do it, even if you can't find a flower girl. He c...

Leaving reception early

Just wondering what you all think about this? A family member is getting married on a Sunday. Both DH & I have to work on the monday as we are unable to get the time off. The wedding is about two hours drive away from home. It is an afternoon ceremony with an evening reception. Do you think it's...

Any technology people here? - DVD

Our DVD recorder is now not playing bought discs - they are just skipping and freezing. There is no visible damage to the discs - they are imaculate with no dirt or scratches. Can't think of any way they could have been damaged by heat etc. Since the DVD was suddenly skipping on the DVD recorder we ...

Re: Back Pain....

If you think it's muscular then I'd highly recommend acupuncture. I had chronic neck pain for ten years - tried so many different things and could never get any long term relief. Went to acupuncture as a last resort - I had six sessions and it fixed my neck completely. I haven't been back for over t...

Thanks! I like the idea of the body wash/creams etc. She is in her 50s and can go out but only for short trips.

xmas gift ideas

I really need some gift ideas for someone who is terminally ill. We are on a budget and will be buying nice confectionary for everyone else, but that's not really an option. We are really stuck for what to buy her.

Re: Breast Reduction

I just wanted to pop in and say best of luck - sending you positive wishes! I know what it's like to have a large bust, I'm also an F cup and have had chronic neck pain for many many years because I wore the wrong size bra for so long. With mine, I sometimes feel like they are out of proportion with...

Re: Deterring cats from our yard

We have the same problem, along with the cats killing native wildlife & leaving it in our yard for us to clean up. I don't have a problem with the cats wandering across the front yard, I even pat them sometimes as they are cute, but I really wish they'd stop using our back-yard as their own priv...

Re: Planning your own hens party?

Neither of my BM's could be bothered to organise mine which made me really sad, and it was left so late that my friends weren't really given enough notice. I was ready to just go into the city by myself but my mum found out and decided to organise something for me. A few friends were able to come an...

Re: Help with reception venue please :( - QLD

You could have it in the gardens of Newstead House - http://www.newsteadhouse.com.au/index.htm It is right on the Brisbane River which will look beautiful in photos (I know - I got married at Bulimba on the river last year) and there is a shelter thing right down near the water where a lot of people...

Re: Where did you get your dress from and how much did you spend

I bought mine at the Sugar & Spice Outlet Store in Brisbane for $600 - it was the last one of a discontinued line & it was my dream dress!!!! So if you take the time to shop around you can find something affordable. I went to a few shops before than and everything I tried was over $1000 but ...

Re: Building with wood

Thanks a lot! I'll be cool with a hand saw etc, not sure about drills etc but I will be able to practice on scraps first. Will definitely check out that video, it looks really useful. Will have to try & get a ride to Bunnings cause talking to one of the guys there sounds like a good option. Plus...

Re: Kids or No Kids?

I had some young cousins at my wedding and because they have decent parents who were respectful of the occasion and supervised them properly it wasn't a problem - and I knew that would be the case so I was happy to have them there. If I was worried about kids running around with no supervision while...

Re: Dogs

I'm probably biased, but if you want a medium sized dog a cocker spaniel is a great choice for kids. They are the sweetest most gentle dogs & are amazing around kids! They are not the smartest of dogs though, and they do need good training otherwise they can be very naughty & a bit destructi...

Building with wood

Has anyone ever built anything by themselves with wood? I want a step-ladder as the only ladder we have is massive & I can hardly even lift it, let alone get it down the hall from the garage without bashing the walls. I was thinking about building myself one but I don't really know where to star...

Re: DIYing music - who controls it?

Hi Rubywoo, we used a laptop with itunes dj for our wedding. We put it out of sight and hooked it up to the speakers from there so there was less chance of people changing the songs (no-one did). I asked a close friend to be in charge of it - I set it up in distinct playlists so it was really easy. ...

Re: Only 2 bridesmaids

I had two bridesmaids, and my DH had a best man and a groomswoman. It looked fine on the day and in the photos & did not look like we were 'unpopular' at all. It is a nice number, easy for the photographers etc to work with, easy to fit in the space/church/venue etc.
