Re: Honeymoon- where are you going? Is 2 weeks enough??

Personally I find it disgraceful that almost one year in advance you have been turned down for a single week of leave WITHOUT PAY?? What, do they think they won't be able to find a relief teacher before then?? I'm so glad I didn't stick with teaching as a career. Anyway, I think you should stay in e...

Re: Question about gifts

Probably a gift card for a department store. That way they can get pretty much anything they want/need.

Re: To dance or not to dance...

Thanks for the responses everyone. I don't think it concerns me too much not having dancing, but I just wonder what takes up the time after dessert is over, and what happens at the end of a "meal only" reception... does your MC just get up and say, "well, that's it guys, thanks for co...

Re: Photobooths - tacky or fun?

I'm going to be unpopular, but IMHO I think they're a bit tacky. Fun for a party, but inappropriate for a wedding.

Having said that, my own wedding will be mostly family and family friends, and any younger people there are not the sort who would particularly appreciate something like this.

Re: Fiancé doesn't want a bridal dance - what to do?

If there was something that made you feel that tense that he had asked you to do for the wedding, i'm betting the advice would be a lot difference and we'd have a tirade about how men can be thoughtless pigs etc. I think it's awful that anyone could call someone a baby for not wanting to dance. Dan...

Re: To dance or not to dance...

Yeah, I always wanted a first dance and a father-daughter dance too. But then again, both DP and Dad are not the dancing kind. They might even appreciate not having that pressure, I don't know.. I would definitely have an iPod and sound system for entrance music and dinner ambience anyway. Are there...

To dance or not to dance...

I haven't checked with my dream venue yet, as I'm not engaged/planning. But I am under the impression they are the "meal only" type of venue where they can't accommodate a dance floor, etc. I really love this venue, but I always imagined I would have a band and dancing at my wedding. Howev...

Re: Essential parts to the ceremony service?

I remember the Priestess at my friend's wedding saying the only legal part is the "I Do" and stating who the Celebrant is, the rest is up to the individuals. Ah, well that makes sense then. Neither of them are the type for traditional or flowery vows, so they probably decided to keep it s...

Re: Essential parts to the ceremony service?

The couple must say the vows that are laid down in the Marriage Act - I call upon the persons here present to witness that I XX take thee XX to be my lawful wedded husband/wife. I guess I'm wrong, but I could have SWORN that at my cousin's wedding, the only words she and her husband spoke were &quo...

Re: Is any watching the Royal Wedding?

OMG, her dress was perfect! Exactly what I wanted her to wear. Unfortunately because I've always wanted a similar style dress everyone's going to think I copied her now...

But everything was exquisite. :)

Re: Is any watching the Royal Wedding?

I'm going over to mum's, and we're having fish & chips, very bad snacks, and pink bubbly! An awesome girls' night in. :) I thought about wearing my one and only BM dress, just for kicks (and to see if I still fit into it; it was six years ago), but I know within a few mins I'd be changing into m...

Sorry I'm no help, but on a humourous note I just had to say that every time I see this thread title, I read it as "controversial bridesmaids dresses". Lol!

Re: What has annoyed you about other peoples weddings?

I went to one once where the bride was pissed beyond all belief and she fell asleep in the lounge area... and the groom went into the casino next door to play poker with some of his mates... Everyone was a little confused as to whether they should leave or not, haha. 8O Wow, that's classy...

Re: Wedding Video - Is it worth it?

Personally I don't like the idea of having my wedding videoed. I think I would maybe watch it once, and probably find it quite cringe-worthy. However DP got a friend to do home videos throughout the day on his first wedding, and seems to think it's a necessity, so I guess we'll probably end up doing...

Re: "Older" brides...

It's funny though, when I got on this site I was a bit surprised at how young so many brides were. I just assumed most people would get married between say 25 to early 30s, so I figured that would be the average age bracket here, but I think most peolple are probably in the age bracket 20 to 25. I ...

You may have some luck in craft stores, but you might see them around more when Christmas decorations come out (which will be bloody August/September... absolutely ludicrous, but potentially helpful in this instance!).

Re: Is order of service just for a church?

Its completely up to you Hun, i haven't been to a wedding without one though :) Really?? I haven't been to many weddings, but less people had them than those who didn't.. I think they're a nice touch, but quite potentially a waste of time and money. At the couple of weddings I've been to where they...

Re: "Older" brides...

hi Sariele, I had a little chuckle when I read you would consider yourself an "older bride". Hehe, I know, I just couldn't think of a better term for it. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that I'm really surprisingly struggling with the idea of turning thirty this year.. Thanks so...
