Re: Fantastic Furniture

i often buy cheap furniture (e.g. from super amart) but for my bed I would recommend getting a good quality one. You can always buy a good one from a factory outlet or possibly even ebay second hand, but look for one that will last the test of time, be comfortable and give you the best back/neck sup...

Re: Tips for buying a used car

Get a reputable mechanic to look over any car you're interested in buying. Do a REVS check to ensure the car doesn't have money owing on it. this! you'll generally get a MUCH better price paying privately, and so long as you get the car checked out by a professional (either your mechanic or a place...

Re: Wisdom teeth removal...complications?!

I had all 4 of mine done in a day surgery whilst under and it was fine. No complications during or after. Of course it was a bit sore and I had only decided to have about 2 days off work, but found I actually needed a full week to recover. I did find that because you don't have much food on your st...

Re: Building boost grant and general home loan questions

The only other thing to keep in mind with house and land packages is that many of the prices don't include all the finishings that usually amount to $50k+ e.g. fly screens, fences, turf, mailbox, window dressings etc

Re: really bad acne

you should really see a dermalogist because if you get something like cystic acne it can cause scarring and you don't want that. A derm can prescribe a range of treatments, yes roaccutane is the only 'cure' of sorts but there are other prescription products u can try such as differin gel or duac dai...

Re: DYP needs help movin to Brisbane & other Brisbane related Qs

the first house we ever rented was in Carina and we loved it. The only con was that the busses in the morning took a while (40 min in peak time) given that Carina isn't far from the city. Apart from this its a lovely suburb, older wooden houses, good schools (public and private), 5 min to westfield ...

Re: DYP needs help movin to Brisbane & other Brisbane related Qs

Acacia Ridge is a cheaper area, quite high unemployment, quite a few first home buyers buy there as its cheaper, but its not the nicest suburb to live in. Morningside is a good suburb, lots going on, has a train station and a lot of busses, driving to the city is quite direct though traffic in peak t...

Re: DYP needs help movin to Brisbane & other Brisbane related Qs

I know a few people who have lived at Forest Lake, it's just near Inala (worst suburb in Bris along with Woodridge) and the transport system which I think has started won't be ready for a few years yet (maybe that's Springfield Lake?). Unless you've actually lived in inala, it's actually not that b...

Re: DYP needs help movin to Brisbane & other Brisbane related Qs

speaking of Holland Park it's a lovely suburb. If we were still renting I'd look at Holland Park, Tarragnidi, Mackenzie, Greenslopes, Mt Gravatt, Buranda, Eight Mile Plains, Norman Park (renting a house would be exy though)

Re: DYP needs help movin to Brisbane & other Brisbane related Qs

Do a google search on Collingwood Park and cracks in homes. A lot of homes in that area have structural cracks due to the land that the houses were built in. Redbank Plains we first looked at when looking to buy, but it is quite a way to the city, we would have had to get to redbank train station I ...

Re: DYP needs help movin to Brisbane & other Brisbane related Qs

Pretty much everywhere you've circled is also a fair way out from the city with maybe the exception of Eight Mile Plains When you say fair way out, how long are we talking? Either by driving or public transport. I disagree. While places like Rochedale South and Springwood are 20km's from Brisbane C...

Re: DYP needs help movin to Brisbane & other Brisbane related Qs

yep all redlands including birkdale. I grew up in Wynnum and it used to be quite rough, it's probably a lot better now that first home buyers have moved in but wynnum central is still quite bogan which is unfortunate as there is a train station right there. Manly however is a rich area due to a lot ...

Re: DYP needs help movin to Brisbane & other Brisbane related Qs

Thorneside isn't too expensive and it's near the nice restaurants at wellington point and cleveland, but it's not that close to the city. Around 40 minutes I think. It's an area we considered when we bought our first home, there are quite a few townhouses but they are stict on pets.

Re: DYP needs help movin to Brisbane & other Brisbane related Qs

I repeat and rely on my original post Carindale Holland Park Mansfield Mt Gravatt Coorparoo Greenslopes Camp Hill yep i recommend these suburbs. They are all expensive to buy in but to rent they are really nice suburbs. Otherwise eight mile plains has some new townhouses right next to the busway, a...

Re: Help Private Health Insurance?

All health funds have a list of obstetricians and hospitals that they have a relationship with. Budget for out of pocket costs of $3000 min. as the safety net changes have made going private much more expensive even though you already pay PHI premiums. Check waiting periods, how much they cover for ...

Re: How do you clean your cats teeth?

We already buy good dry cat food (royal canin) for our indoor kitties however they too don't have the best teeth, don't chew enough, don't go for chicken necks etc so we have bought some royal canin dental food (dry) to mix in with their normal dry food. With all good quality dry foods, if u buy it ...

Re: Naughty Cat - I need advice!

UTI
Things being moved around - have you moved any of the cat's things or major furniture around - this can stress cats a lot
Other cats around - is your kitty marking its territory?

I would call your vet and see what they say
