Re: Order of Service

we had them but really only so we could give my brothers something to do. i have 7 siblings and SH has 1 but we managed to find everyone a job of some kind. Had i not needed to give them somthing to do then i wouldn't have had them. i didn't really see any other need for them, though i think the par...

Re: Flower Girl Dress. Help, Please. (Townsville)

i had to get mine from online as well, pinkmarie.com I found very little in townsville for flower girl dresses that didn't cost the earth. You might get lucky at that shop in Rising Sun for kids. My bestie got her flower girl dress from there. Still a bit pricey but much better then what other place...

Re: Invitation ideas

If i was looking for someone, i would want to see a good collection of wedding invites with a smaller rang of engagement, baby shower, birthday invites.

I would also want to see a set of some kind. For instance, an ongong theme throughout Engagment, Shower, Wedding and thank-yous.

Re: What is your song for the First Dance?

Naaaw...this thread makes me happy because no one said Shania Twain. She has some beautiful music but a few years ago you couldn't throw a rock without hitting a wedding with Shania Twain for the first dance. I know that some people still use Shania, but now its people who genuinely like her, not ju...

Re: Bridesmaid Dresses....HELP!!!

I dont think its right to ask for more then $200 from your BM's for the dresses. If they want to contribute more, then thats ok, but i dont think you should ask for more. Do you have a picture of the dress...maybe someone on here knows how to get a cheaper version. All respect to Sacha Drake but it ...

Re: rules on wording - invites

I can defiantly see how planning a wedding can cause conflict between family and friends! We are only inviting "partners" if they are married, engaged, have a child or if they are living together and we know them well. I am inviting my cousins however I have never met there bf's/gf's and ...

Re: Alternatives to wedding speeches

Personally i think it could be a bit rude if the bride or groom is not up there saying thank-you to the guests, parents, bridal party etc. Perhaps the both of you can do a speech together and then have the MC do a bit of a speech for you that might have otherwise been covered by the FOG or MOB and t...

Re: Readings for Ceremony

We had this as one of ours for civil ceremony, A Lovely love story The fierce Dinosaur was trapped inside his cage of ice. Although it was cold he was happy in there. It was, after all, his cage. Then along came the Lovely Other Dinosaur. The Lovely Other Dinosaur melted the Dinosaur’s cage with kin...

Re: Honeymoon suggestions please!

I live in Nth Queensland and its definately stinger time then. Most publicly patrolled beaches do have stinger nets though and again...there are stinger suits for snorkelling and what not. November is more importantly the start of the wet season...which means the cyclone season. Chances are you woul...

Re: Cutting the guest list

I hate dredging up what I feel is old stuff but it's reared it's ugly head again!! I don't want to feel like I'm being a bridezilla but FH is certainly making me feel that way. FH has practically adopted our junior GM and I'm really happy to have him as part of our day. The problem is the boy's mot...

Re: New Years Eve/Day wedding?

I think having a news years eve/day wedding is a fantastic idea - but you're asking a lot of the family with children to spend that much money and travel overseas for what will essentially be a 4 day holiday if they are not prepared to have the kids out of school. Assuming they dont want to spend ch...

Re: New Years Eve/Day wedding?

Something to remember - Christmas holidays aren't the big holidays in Europe. Most countries have about a week off school and thats it. Their big holidays are are in our winter. Thats why we had a winter wedding, My SIL is a teacher in England so we had to wait for their summer holidays if we wanted...

Re: What famous female does your FH/DH like?

My FH likes the nerdy sister from 10 rules to dating my teenage daughter. Also victoria (both of them) from twilight and Emma stone but only when she has red hair. Notice a pattern? My DH follows the same pattern. Top of his Guilt-free-three is the red haired chick from the mentalist - he lur...

Re: Speech

To be honest...you do sound a little bit unreasonable to me. Not because you dont want her to do a speech...totally your call. You dont have to justify it to anyone here. But it is your FH's wedding too. i really dont think her doing a speech will take any of the shine from you and your day. I had 2...

Re: Honeymoon $

personally i'd wait a bit longer. Do a bit of a minibreak after the wedding for a night or two to a B&B or something, then save for NZ. Last thing you want to do is start your newly married life together with a pile of debt if thats not what you're comfortable with.

Re: Reception Questions

Pretty well much everything i asked is above but just wanted to add, when asking about bringing in alcochol - say if you specifically wanted a certain type of champagne for toasting etc - make sure you check if there is corkage costs. Sometimes that can be VERY expensive and they dont always tell yo...
