Re: Red Wines?

I agree - I think a Cab Sav is a much easier drinking wine that can go with a greater range of dishes, and is more likely to be drinkable when cheaper, as others have mentioned cheap Shiraz without food can taste like vinegar! It's super dry

Re: Cost of dress alterations?

My dress cost $125 to be taken up, taken out at the hip, train taken in a bit and the straps and bustle added. She also had to re-bead one of the sleeves. My dress had many layers of tulle at the bottom, an underlay and then the satin on top - around 12 metres around all up! My nan used to be a dres...

Re: Inlaws Keep Stopping the Wedding!!!

I agree - I think this now comes down to needing to talk to your FH. Somethings gotta give - if he wants to get married I think hes going to have to be firm with his Mum and say that these are our plans, if you want to be part of our day we'd love to have you, however if you can't accept how we'd li...

Re: Newcastle / Hunter Valley Part 5

Drycleaners and alterations Hi guys - I am just wondering where everyone has taken their dresses to be steamed before the wedding?? Mine came in from America and has creases all over it. Also suggestions for alterations?? Thank you!! Not sure where you're at but there is a lady in Blue Haven who do...

Re: Newcastle / Hunter Valley Part 5

We decided not to have our ceremony in their little park but rather go up the road to the bigger foreshore, we didn't like how their little park hardly had a water view and had a big ugly fence in the way. For the amount they wanted to charge for it as well it was better value to go up to the bigger...

Re: Newcastle / Hunter Valley Part 5

Hey Leah, I'm having my wedding at Milanos, but yes the function manager can be a bit of a pain in the bum. If you're expecting a full on involved function manager, it may not be the place for you. I haven't had any bad experiences with him, he just hasn't really done anything for us in terms of hel...

Re: Nice way to say you dont have to come!

Yeah I agree!

I think you'll be opening a massive can of worms! If your families whinging is anything like mine, they are just whinging for the sake of whinging and will still come on the day regardless!

Re: simple but different ideas to incorporate into a wedding

Kongming lanterns are illegal in Australia :( I agree with the Offbeat bride suggestion, its another great resource! I think the thing is you don't want to be doing different things just for the sake of being different, the most awesome weddings are the ones where your personalities, loves and inter...

I think it needs to say 'reception to follow' instead of 'following the reception', but other than that all good!

Re: Help....Cold Sore

i haven't used famvir before but you can use lysine preventatively, i've been taking 4 a day which is probably a bit much but i REFUSE to get a coldsore on my wedding day! you can then save famvir for if you need it in case of emergency!

Re: What to wear as guest to this wedding?

I'd definitely just stick with that dress - its gorgeous! A nice tailored jacket might be a bit warmer and look really nice? I think though because it's a middle of the day wedding that you will be fine as long as you have something to keep your arms warm.

Re: Tanning Moisturiser

my fave is the st tropez, its the same formulation as their normal tan so it has an awesome colour that comes out gradually so its always nice and even too. they have a face one too which is awesome so you dont have the white face effect

Re: Invite wording and not causing offence!

I think everyone is getting a little too carried away in the money side of things here. Both sets of parents have contributed what they can which we are so grateful for, but that's not the reason we put them on our invites, we put them on our invites since they're our parents, we love them, and they...

I had bought Armani Diamonds last time I went Duty Free, and somehow I've lost it!!!!

It makes me so cranky everytime I think about it that I don't want to buy a new one lol.

Its a lovely smell!

Re: Ahh that awkward moment

Ah that old chesnut! Ive been talking up how big my family is for months and how small our venue is - hoping that will work! Best bet is just being honest though when it happens - harder to go back later and tell them they aren't invited! After all they're just excited to share in the day and who ca...

Re: Best Man being a pain...

Letting go of "needing" to see the boys in their suits just may be something you need to do. Suits these days are pretty standard, they only come in a few shapes...sorry love but imo, i don't think he's being a pain. I don't see why it's necessary that he come down if you already have the...
