Re: Would you do this

Wow, that's all so terrible!! I thought it was bad when she just wanted to get guests to pay for their own meal, but then to have a wishing well on top of that, and then ask if your daughter can be flowergirl, but you have to pay for everything. It's all so shockingly bad! I thinks it's bad that she...

Re: Would you do this

As a guest I would not like this. As a bride it would be a cold day in hell before I would do it myself. I have strong personal views about being a good host and IMHO asking people to pay their own way is not being a good host. If you (and not addressing this at anyone in particular) cannot afford ...

Re: Timing question.

I'm going to have to disagree, it took the girls ages to get me in to my dress. It was lace up, and had a fairly full skirt, but it took quite a while to get it right. I had asked our photographer if I should be dressed before he came, and he said definitely yes. So maybe check with your photographe...

Re: MC question

In all honesty, pay someone external to do the job. Nothing ruins a reception more than it being unplanned and disorganised. And as a guest, I would much prefer to enjoy the wedding instead of organising it. Ask you DJ or event manager to do it for you. 100% agree. Just pay a professional to do it,...

Re: Disposable cameras??

I thought about it but decided it would be a waste. Everyone I spoke to said you only get really crap photos from disposable cameras, and everyone brings their own digital camera anyway. Then you pay to get them all developed, and all you're left with is silly, drunken poor quality photos, none that...

Re: What has annoyed you about other peoples weddings?

Agreed about the single ladies bouquet toss etc... I waited 7 years for my fh to propose- I certainly wasnt single and towards the end of that 7 year period I was pretty devastated that we werent yet engaged- so being forced to stand in front of a room filled with people to proclaim this devastatio...

I also would suggest Baccini & Hill. They have some beautiful bridesmaid dresses in there, and they would be probably $400 each.

Handwriting is a bit nicer in my opinion. It shows you've made that extra effort and personalised touch.

Hope we're all going well so far this month!

I'm starting personal training again tonight, looking forward to it but I think I'll really struggle after the long break! It's been a few months.

Re: September Weight Loss

Be a pain for me! Can I buy that magazine at a newsagent, Buggy? I need something I can cook for FH and DS as well that will give him what he needs (or will eat) so it's a bit of a pickle! A lot of that just comes down to portion size. For example, I'll only have about 150g steak or chicken etc at ...

Re: Is this ever ok?

I think it's just one of those thing people say out of habbit, I don't think people generally realise that it can be offensive although it quite often is. I agree, I'm sure people don't mean it to be offensive, it's more just them making small talk. But i hate it too, and I always avoid asking peop...

Re: No Childeren at Reception ~ help

I read on WC somewhere, that somebody wrote on their invites "We respectfully request no children" I thought that was nicely worded. 75 is bloody heaps!!! Too many for me. I like the way that sounds. Normally i'd say it's fine to have no children at a wedding, but it makes it a bit hard w...

Re: Should we invite her?

I think you definitely have to invite her. Think about how you would have felt if (before you were engaged) your partner was invited to a wedding and you weren't. I think you just have to suck it up and do it. Chances are you'll barely even speak to her on the night, so it shouldn't have any effect...

That's disgraceful!! What would possess someone to act in such a rude way? How odd asking if you wanted to borrow her veil too?

Re: Bridal Shower Invites?

Well I have invited a few friends that won't be coming to the wedding, either we haven't had the space for them or they have something on the same day. Mum said she wanted to invite them so that way they are included in the wedding in some way or another. Or wedding is very tight on numbers so a lo...

Re: September Weight Loss

I'm in again Manda, I'd like to lose 2 kgs this month, so from 64.2kg to 62.2kg. A big ask but I have started exercising more now that the weather is not so miserable!

Good luck everyone!

Re: Inviting to engagement but not wedding?

I think when you are having a small wedding and a big engagement party then it works ok. But if you only shaved a small number of people off the total then it doesn't look great. You would feel a little annoyed if you didn't make the cut but most of your other friends did if that makes sense. Person...

Re: Bridal Shower Invites?

I wouldn't invite anyone to a bridal shower that wasn't invited to the wedding. Maybe the hens, but not a bridal shower. I'd feel a bit offended that I was invited to a bridal shower, expected to bring a present for the bride when I wasn't even invited to the wedding. It depends on the guest I suppo...
