Re: How do you run your budget / finances?

DH and I have been together for 8 years and still the only joint account that we have is the mortgage. We are very aware of how much money each of us have though and we have an equal view of how money is saved and spent. Essentially our money is pooled together, in that we equally share expenses and...

Re: no reply in 6 days - do i look for someone else

I would maybe resend the email to her to give her one more chance, it is possible that the email got missed I guess.

If you get no reply after resending the email, I would definitely be looking at someone else.

Re: To crinoline, or not to crinoline...

I wore a hoop - mostly to keep the dress away from feet, but it also gave it a bit better shape. It was just a cotton one with a wire hoop at the bottom - I really do think that it gives it some shape if you have something under - perhaps you could see whether you can borrow one to try it on with yo...

Re: MC choice?

We had DH's uncle do it, but if we had not had him, we were going to ask a friend. I think it just needs to be someone that you trust to stay relatively sober until the formalities are over and that is a reasonably good public speaker.

Many people use their DJ if they are having one.

Re: Changing name after marriage

I think you are right and may need to get it done by deed poll, you can get the forms from same place as births, deaths & marriages (service Tasmania in Tasmania - so equivelent in your state) I might be wrong though and you might be able to just adopt it as part of your name change - interested...

Re: Celebrant - She is trying to charge us when we didnt choose

Respond in writng (keep a copy) explaining why you do not feel you have to pay her invoice. Did you no-show an appointment? Were you advised a fee would be payable? This :tick: if you can be bothered and it would make you feel better if you did something. Just ignore it. Don't pay, don't do anythin...

Hi ladies, A few questions regarding the dress ...please copy and paste the questions below and answer them - thanks so much! Very much appreciated! 1. How far in advance was your final fitting? Re: What are the little things you stress over??

I think that my biggest stress was how was I going to make sure that everyone did everything when they were supposed to? But then I realised that the majority of the people that had things to do were people that knew all about weddings and had done it a hundred times before (caterers, photographer, ...

Re: How much would you spend on a wedding pen?

nothing haha - we used the celebrant's pen.

I think if we had a traditional guest book and the pen was going to be used for that I might have thought about it, but I looked for a niceish pen and couldn't justify the cost for a pen that was only going to be used for a total of 5 minutes on the day

Re: Good hair treatments, conditioners etc?

I use Garnier Fructus (sp?) - I use the oily roots dry ends one. Saying that, I have thin straight hair, but it is the best shampoo conditioner that I have used. I have tried other ones and always come back to Fructis

Re: How much alcohol should we buy?

We supplied our own alcohol and we had similar numbers to you. We had so much left over, so I would suggest maybe half of what we had, which was the following: 15 cartons regular beer (cascade draught) 2 cartons premium light 3 cartons pure blonde 2 cartons premium (this was mostly for the bridal pa...

Amazing is all I can say - but you will only need one! They remind me of cross between a banana fritter and how tim tams go when you bite the ends off and suck your coffee through.

Re: to supply bus or not that is the question

I would put on a bus. I think the expense is not that big and your guests will love you for it. It means that nobody has to worry about driving and they are more likely to enjoy themselves I think without having to worry about anything. Another bonus is that you will be able to dictate when everyone...

Re: bridal bouquets - are you making your own

I was definitely not saying that my job was as good as a florist, and I am certain that I could have got much better quality flowers had I gone to a florist. But I am not that much of a flower person and I couldn't justify spending hundreds on some bouquets. If flowers are a big deal to you and you ...

Re: Mother of the bride - what does she wear?

completely up to you and your Mum what she wears - I don't think I would like the same colour as BMs though, might look a bit matchy matchy. I think as others have said, most MOB will wear a dress, or skirt and jacket combo - my Mum was a little unsure about wearing a dress to start with, so we were...

Re: Help me to decide, new or preowned dress???

I would definitely fr the pre-owned dress - it sounds like it was made for you!

If it is in perfect condition and it will fit you, I can't see any reason why not to get the pre-owned one.

You will most likely (like you have said) have to get the new one altered anyway

Re: I wish someone told me..............before my wedding day.

Make sure you get photos with the people that really matter to you, even if it means holding things up for a few mins. Mums, Dads, grandparents, siblings etc will thank you for it afterwards. This is REALLY important - I felt bad on the day making everyone stand around, but looking back on the phot...
