Re: Destination Beach Wedding Dresses

I just came back from my friends wedding in Fiji and she had the normal traditional wedding gown where it was fitted right down to the bottom with a train. Got it from Abby Bridal. If you want something less formal however don't rule out just normal formal dress shops such as Harts, I have seen some...

Re: Would you bring it forward a year?

Absolutely bring it forward!!! My cousin brought hers forward to January 2013 due to my Nana being diagnosed with cancer but despite bringing it forward, Nana still won't make it to the wedding :( So definitely think of your families in a scenario like this if you can afford it. You can do the overs...

Re: Marry under 25? Have a 4 times increased risk of divorce

I don't think its an age thing to be honest. We got married when I was 23 and he was 25. We had been together for 7.5 years before we married. We have now been married for 5.5 years so 13 years all up now and we are still going strong and I honestly don't believe we will split any time soon. I know ...

I agree, to put a number on it is the weird bit! But good luck to him and good luck to whatever lady gets stuck having to have sex that many times a year LOL

Re: Hotel describes couple as "not the right type" for the venue

What they do for a living should have nothing to do with it. How often have any of us been asked our occupation when booking one of the services for our wedding?? If they have the money to hold it there, what is it to them if he has two holes in his ear and a hole in his eyebrow?? Gosh, I would be g...

Re: Offending Brother of Groom, not a Groomsman

I absolutely agree with the above about the brother's looks. That shouldn't really be a factor in it at all. He cannot help it if he has had a skin reaction and it shouldn't even come into the reasons for not having him. However just explain to him about the other things. If they haven't been close,...

Re: Kids or No Kids?

This is something I feel very strong about ... I am a mother of 3 children, and I don't like taking my children to weddings. My kids are 12yrs, 11yrs and 5yrs and generally well behaved (especially the older 2). But weddings are just long BORING days for them. Think of it from a child's perspective...

Re: $25,000 for Don't Tell the Bride

I watch the English one all the time and love it! But I simply couldn't do it because I wouldn't trust DH. He is likely to book a surf camp somewhere like Indonesia and just expect me to turn up in Shorts, tshirt and thongs! He would be hopeless!

Re: Any thoughts on NOT having favours?

We had them, but we got married 5.5 years ago when it was a big deal

But if I go to weddings these days and they aren't provided, I don't even notice to be honest with you! I am more interested in the meal and wine to worry about favours

Re: Garter & Bouquet Throw

We did it, but I didn't like the whole "sticking his head up my dress etc". So we just had a spare (cheaper) garter which he just threw, and my throw away bouquet was included in our flower package. It was a bit of fun and most people were happy to do it.

Re: would you use a celebrant with bright purple or blue hair?

However, after being married and having a celebrant, their professionalism and organisation skills probably takes number 1 priority on my list. Our celebrant had bright bright red hair (dyed) and very very short hair (but still dressed conservatively and lovely). I know that isn't quite blue/purple,...

Maggie Dresses - how much?

Just wondering if you have gotten/are wearing a Maggie Sottero wedding dress - which one have you gotten and how much did you pay for it?? I got married 5.5 years ago now and wore a Maggie dress which I love but I have noticed that things have really really changed since I got married and I complete...

Re: How much are people spending on Bridesmaids dresses?

My girls paid $300 for their dresses each. I am a bridesmaid early next year for my best friend and I would be happy to pay up to that amount. To be honest, you would need to keep your prices fairly low as lots of brides are buying their dresses from places like Forever New, Myer, David Jones and ca...

Re: wedding ceremony

Our ceremony went for a total fo 18 minutes (and the celebrant said that was the shortest she had done). It consisted of walking down the aisle, welcoming guests, saying our vowels, having a sibling each do a reading, a kiss and signing the register. Very quick and easy as we were the same as you - ...

Re: Hens Day/Night!!

Newcastle is so close to the Hunter Valley - I would do a wine tour!! My SIL had a weekend in the Hunter for her hens and besides her and her bridesmaids all having gastro (we can laugh about it now), it was a great day. I am pretty sure Newcastle has a race track - have you thought about doing a da...

Re: Small wedding venue options NSW

There two places that I would want to have my wedding if I was to have a very small one (and if I was to get married again!) and that is The Nuns Pool which is a small, trendy, well rated restaurant in Cronulla overlooking the water. The second is a place that I desperately wanted when I did get mar...

Re: Should I sell dress buy smaller size or Alter?

Hmmm....I would get an opinion from a dressmaker first. Usually I would recommend getting it altered, however that is two whole dress sizes so it may end up sitting funny.

How easy is it to get another dress in the right size?
