Re: What exercise did you do today?

I've been too scared to start C25k but maybe the trick is to take twice as long. Thanks for the tip, ruby, maybe I can do it after all.

Re: Epilators?

Some of the Braun models have "starter heads" which take out less hair and I definitely recommed getting these as they are much less painful to start off with - the trade-off being that the job takes longer. The regular heads will take out a lot more hair and when you're extra hairy or new...

Re: Epilators?

I couldn't not post here. I have been using my epilator for about 5 years and I will never, ever go back to shaving. Yes, it hurt the first few times I used (I use it on legs and underarms) but now I epilate legs probably once a month, the regrowth is very slow and very sparse. It doesn't really hur...

zenyatta your bouquet looks so professional, did you practise heaps beforehand?

Yes, the first one I did was pretty sloppy - threw most of the flowers out and started again. I started about three months out, and glad I did because I was still working on them until 2 nights before the wedding!

Re: Church Dilemma!! - What would you do?

Agreed, don't risk it, find another church (same denomination) and see if your minister can conduct the service there. I wouldn't want scaffolding in my pictures either.

Re: Somebody stop me!

Get regular trims so it feels neat and tidy at the ends and wash every 2-3 days with a good quality shampoo, only conditioning the ends. Your hair will feel yucky for a while as it gets used to less frequent washing but stick with it and it should improve. The days it feels oily just put it up in a ...

Re: search site for wedding photographer ?

To find professional photographers I would suggest browsing the AIPP website (Aust. Institute of Professional Photographers) at http://www.aipp.com.au/. Pick out a few of the best and go and have a chat to all of them. I personally didn't even bother seeing photographers who didn't provide pricing o...

Re: Saving money around the house

How much food do you throw out? Check your fruit and veg drawer in the fridge to see what needs to be used up when you are planning meals. I do lots of stir fries and throw in just about any vegetables we have that need eating. I have discovered that pumpkin and cabbage are especially good for stir ...

Re: How far out was your final fitt & when did you pick up dress

How far in advance was your final fitting? 2 weeks. They needed that much time to re-attach the lace beading that had to be taken off to bring the seams in. How far in advance did you pick up your dress from shop, completely finished ready to go? Picked it up the Monday before my Saturday wedding. ...

Re: July Weight Loss Thread

So I finally got the courage to weigh myself. I've put on...FOUR kilos since the wedding, and it hasn't even been 2 months! 8O   I'm horrified! Time to change things!

dancing when there's music in public (usually shopping centres) I love this! Oh and I forgot to mention that mine managed to turn his umbrella inside out and nearly take FIL's eyes out. Then he couldn't turn it back the other way, but he was trying and everyone was just watching him.... DH said &qu...

I'm thinking slow cooked moroccan lamb and chickpeas... I would just need to make sure enough liquid goes in the pot.

Re: July Weight Loss Thread

I can't really exercise with intensity on 1200 calories a day. I need a minimum of about 1400 but I can easily do 1200 if I'm only doing light exercise like walking. Hollie where do I find this lamb and chickpeas recipe? it sounds amazing!

Re: wedding dress drycleaning!

If a place has a 50% off voucher for dry cleaning I think their 'normal' price would be really OTT. I paid $250 for mine - a polyester taffeta gown with some lace and beading on the bodice, skirt and train. I went to L1ndus dry cleaners who say they clean the dress by hand. The first time I got it b...

Embarassing Dads

Do you have one? Mine is usually embarassing and did not disappoint on the wedding day. I had found the courage to make a short speech and I was just about finished when he called out for me to say more about my new husband in front of all the guests (DH had done most of the talking, I just wanted t...

Well can I just say Kate you look terrific particularly in the middle photo - I also think you're right in that having something to aim for visually will help you. I avoid photos these days so I have not much to go by ;) it's easy for me to go into denial in winter as well because I don't really hav...

2 major things. Facial scrub 3x weekly and 2L of water per day. Both things did wonders for clearing my skin. I highly recommend Sukin brand.

Re: July Weight Loss Thread

It's good to have a few containers of leftovers in the freezer for those mornings when you're just not organised. I do this all the time - but then I always cook at least four meals so that I don't have to cook every night for lunches and dinners. Or my backup meal is tuna and rice if I get stuck wi...

Re: Want To Change Surname BUT...

I'm very attached to my maiden name so I'm going to continue to use it at work and professionally. I think my name sounds weird with DH's last name but hopefully I'll just get used to it...FYI, I'm told that you can change your name for free up to 12 months after the wedding - for your passport and ...
