Re: Thankyou Mogle.

Thanks everyone! :D I've really enjoyed my time on WC over the years - I have received invaluable advice from many members, and I hope I have helped others in the same way with advice of my own! The Mods do a wonderful job here and it's been great to be part of the team for the last 2 years. Sophia ...

Hi all,

I know there is a DIY forum in here, but I'm not sure if anyone ever reads it.

Hi Jandals,

I have moved your thread to the correct place. Please post in the appropriate section. This helps to keep the forum as a whole user-friendly :D

Re: Married Ladies: Have you tried your dress on again?

I haven't - too much trouble taking it out of the preservation bag, etc. Plus, I've been overseas/pregnant/losing pregnancy weight during the last year  so there's no way I would have fit into it. I'm pretty close to my wedding weight again now though... I'm sure I will put it on again one day.

Let me just say though, it does NOT feel anything like being flicked with an elastic band - it's more painful! And I have a high tolerance of pain in general.

I agree! I found it quite painful!!

Re: Best dress shops in Melbourne?

Karen Willis Holmes KWH have some of the most gorgeous gowns in Melbourne IMO! I bought my dress there, and the assistants are lovely, they will make you feel like you are their only customer :D I'm fairly sure you still don't need an appointment to try on gowns there. The ready to wear collection ...

Re: Cleaning silk wedding shoes?

Just to bring this up again! I asked my local drycleaner about drycleaning my ivory Alan Pinkus shoes (I've got the mud on the heel thing going on too) and the lady told me shoes can't be drycleaned as it melts the glue? I'm not completely sure if she knew what she was talking about but she wouldnt...

Re: Buying a Dress Question

The price of my dress included 2 fittings with them to fit the gown to my body and for hemming. So I didn't pay extra for alterations.

I think it depends on the boutique - I would assume alterations are extra unless specified.

Re: Does anyone wish they'd had smaller/more intimate wedding?

Before we started the planning, I did want a smaller wedding than we ended up having. But I wouldn't change a thing now, it was perfect! We had 100 guests.

Re: Cost when u say the W word?

I think it does make sense with some things, but not with others. With flowers, for example... I used to work as a florist, and we would treat a wedding bouquet completely differently - a normal bouquet (which could well be just for home/a gift) may simply end up with an elastic band holding it toge...

Re: Wearing in your wedding shoes

I just put mine on now and then for an hour or two at a time, when I was doing the dishes, just walking around the house, sitting on the couch wearing them... just to give them that bit of stretch. They felt fantastic on the day, no problems!

Re: Bride making a speech

I wouldn't worry too much about tradition - just see how you feel! I made a separate speech at our wedding, and I'm so glad that I did. I didn't want DH to speak on my behalf, as there were people I wanted to personally say a thank you to, especially my parents for their support :D It felt wonderful...

Re: Did you have second thoughts about the dress?

I had a few nervous second thoughts! Nothing major though, and I didn't really do anything about it, other than to reassure myself about how I felt last time I had it on. I fell in love with it for a reason :D It probably wasn't THE absolute nicest dress out there, but without a limitless budget and...

Re: What was the Best and the Worst for your Day

Did anyone find that eating was hard to do at the reception and before heading to the ceremony (if yours was an afternoon wedding). Ive been told that be prepared to not eat as you will be so busy getting ready to eat and then so busy at the reception to eat.. What could I possibly be doing when ev...

application for marriage? Now I am confused! If you want a copy of your official marriage certificate (from Births, Deaths & Marriages), you will need to apply for it - it is not automatically sent to you after the wedding. Some couple's celebrants will have applied for it to be sent to them, o...

Re: Paying for bridal party?

Don't worry about what other people think if you are happy to do that - everyone will have different ideas on this, depending on circumstances, budget, etc. It's really up to you! My DH and I paid for absolutely everything for our bridal party, they didn't have to spend a cent to be a part of our we...
