Re: Wedding rings... Same store?

We got my e-ring from Gregory's and we got such great service from them and they were happy to customize and change things (as they make the rings themselves) so we will definitely be visiting them to discuss our wedding rings.

Wow, those are really pretty! I love the birds... we are doing a birds theme as well. Good job! :)

Re: Buy a brand new bottle of perfume for the day?

Just a tip, for those who are searching for a new scent... apparently our noses can only register about 4 scents at once, after that it becomes a bit of a jumble. So to "reset" your sense of smell, sniff some coffee beans for a few seconds, then you're ready to go again! Some perfume shops...

Re: DIY invitations - how early??

Haha sorry if that came across as sounding rude... I'm busy at work today and so get a bit blunt when typing responses, heh. I think DIY is a nice touch. It's just that all too often people that don't usually do DIY stuff tend to go "OMG I'll DIY my invites!" and then don't leave themselve...

Re: DIY invitations - how early??

It's never too early to at least start practicing, as it's only when you start to actually make them that you see potential design problems, or you may notice that one part is trickier than others... and then you're more prepared when you go to make the whole lot! As a 'crafty' person I have to say,...

Re: Unsure about my photographer!!

Hey guys, just updating this thread... we found a couple of alternatives we liked (we're in Sydney) and the prices were quite good and they were available on my date... it looks like I'll have to postpone the wedding though, so I'll have to go back to them with dates, but we'll probably end up going...

Re: Asian catering help

Have you thought about checking if any Asian restaurants do wedding banquets? We decided to have a western style reception in the end, but we looked at Pheonix and East Ocean here in Sydney - I know you are in Melbourne but you may have a similar restaurant there? Anyway their wedding banquet starte...

Re: Buy a brand new bottle of perfume for the day?

I'd use a half-empty bottle, personally. It's more "you" because it's something you actually use. If you just go out and buy a new bottle, it will look nice for the photo but it will be like a photo you can see in any magazine, not really reflect "you" IYKWIM.

Re: Reception Photo Ideas

We got some good quality disposable ones on sale and if they don't work out - oh well we didn't spend much. Even the cheapest digital ones were expensive to buy a few. Our photographer leaves quite early so we will only have guest photo's for most of the night (other than the mock shots). I was hap...

Re: Do you give a gift registy card to overseas guests?

Dungie, I think that's a great idea! Make up a special info card for your overseas guests and put that into the invite in place of the registry card. Or if you really want to include a lot of info for them, you could make a website that give them info on accommodation, things to see & do around ...

Re: Is anyone else having no theme?

I'm wondering what constitutes a "theme"? We are having one (birds) but it will just be on the invites, the cake topper, wishing well (birdcage) and favors. We're not going overboard to put birds on everything. However a lot of people say "I'm having this colour scheme and this style ...

Re: Do you give a gift registy card to overseas guests?

I think for local people it's fine. Normally I'm all for old school etiquette and I know asking for gifts is supposed to be rude, but it's such a done thing these days most people wouldnt think it rude at all. As a guest, I'd much rather get the couple something they actually want rather than someth...

Re: Alternatives to table numbers at cocktail reception

darkpheonix, yes it is Magic. ;) He and all his GM's play... I'm actually thinking about getting some cuff-links made for them with the mana symbols on them, there's a few people on Etsy that will custom make stuff like that. Or maybe give them d20 cuff-links. I have plans to put a d20 on my garter,...

Re: Do you give a gift registy card to overseas guests?

I dunno... I'm not sure what the etiquette is on it, but I probably wouldn't because as you said, they are traveling a long way and going to a lot of expense already. And also, it depends on how long they'll be here prior to the wedding - will they even have time to shop? If not, maybe don't include...

Re: Kids at the reception

I definitely think they should be allowed to be part of the day as well if they want to - kids love things like dancing and eating, haha. But it would be good to set up a child friendly area if you could for the "boring bits" like speeches, cake cutting, etc. as kids are more likely to muc...

Re: Alternatives to table numbers at cocktail reception

I like the signature drink idea!! I also like the ideas of having little tables around, mainly because I never know where to set my drink when I'm at a cocktail party! I'll have to think of something... cos if I don't, I have a feeling he's going to find some way to slip game references into our wed...

Alternatives to table numbers at cocktail reception

One of FH's hobbies is this game he and all his friends have played for years. So he wanted to use that as the inspiration for the table numbers, like each table would be called one of the worlds in the game (like Mirrodin, Alara, etc.). However we have to have a cocktail reception now because our v...

Re: Opinions wanted

I think you should close your eyes and really visualize all of those scenarios in your head one at a time... Which one naked you feel the way you want to feel or have always wanted to feel on your wedding day? Choose that one, and never mind what the family says. It sounds like you are making a lot ...

Re: Australian Wedding Traditions

Yeah, I think the farewell circle is meant to be so that the B&G can have one last chance to speak to everyone, in case they didn't get time to at the wedding. I don't think we'll need it as we are having some light refreshments in the park immediately following our ceremony, and our reception w...
