Re: Cake flavour - mint chocolate and marble?

I love untraditional wedding cakes, I think mint chocolate is just fine :)

Re: When is it too early?

I would go against the grain here and suggest you hold off on buying shoes/jewellery. There will always be a sale on somewhere and you might like the next season's design alot better than the current one. It's nice to tick things off the wedding to do list but what happens if you change your mind be...

Re: How much is your wedding costing?

Just updated my wedding master list, we're currently looking at a little over 45k for honeymoon and wedding. But I won't know the final number until after we get back from our honeymoon. Jeebus, that's 2 years worth of mortgage repayments for me! 8O

We're having L.O.V.E by Nat King Cole as our entrance (we also quoted part of the lyrics on the invite).

Re: Updating facebook status on wedding day? Tacky or cute?

I'm getting my celebrant to tell everyone before the walk in that we're having an unplugged wedding and therefore it will be very much appreciated if guests refrain from posting pictures up on FB until after the wedding is over. Knowing some of my friends though, this may or may not happen (one frie...

Re: Question on djs, Mc's, photographers and videographers.

Generally it's not an issue that ever comes up though. Also feeding your photographers, should they get the same food as the rest of the venue (often the kitchen will throw something simpler together), is a good opportunity to have your food photographed if you would like. I love taking photos of m...

Re: Updating facebook status on wedding day? Tacky or cute?

I don't think it's cute or tacky, it's really up to the couple what they choose to do with their status. I'm an FB junkie but I doubt FB will be high on my priority list on the wedding day. I will be most defo be updating my status when I go on my honeymoon! :P

Re: Menu card/program

I like knowing what I'm eating and drinking beforehand so we're having a menu that also doubles up as seating chart (since we don't have place cards). Got a cardstock that matched our invites and made a tri-fold out of it. One side was the menu, 2nd side was the wine list and 3rd side is the table n...

Re: Getting on with the in-laws.

No issues with my in laws when we were talking about combining Aussie and Singapore cultures. Apart from not seeing me the day before the wedding and not seeing the dress, Mr snoopkat has been pretty easygoing about what traditions he wants to incorporate. My parents are insisting on the tea ceremon...

Re: Children at Weddings

My maid of honour decided to bring her son to the wedding without even telling me. Then again, she had to fly from Singapore to attend my wedding so I couldn't very well turn around and tell her no kids.

Ah hon that sucks! I remembered how excited you were when you first bought the voucher. Can you dispute the transaction through your credit card? I'd contact your credit card company as well just in case Groupon doesn't get back to you.

Re: Worst or most stressful part of organising a wedding?

For me, it was trying to get Mr snoopkat to understand that things need to be done at a certain time. He seems to think that he can just wing it and everything will be fine. I've since adopted a new policy - if it doesn't affect me personally on the wedding day, then it's not my problem and I'm not ...

Re: I've got my dress and I feel blah

Echoing what all the girls have already said, you will feel beautiful on the day. I've tried Duromine and I really won't recommend it to anyone. True, it did suppress my appetite but it also made me super hyper and I was high as a kite. It was hard to focus at work because I couldn't sit still. Plus...

Re: Photography Time?

My first reaction is Photographer 1 is very expensive to only provide 3 hours coverage compared to photographer 2. My second thought is why is photographer 2 so cheap (in comparison to 1)? Despite this, my personal view is to go with the photographer you ciick better with. You're going to be spendin...

Re: Sydney Venues without a real time limit

My manager booked **** Hall for her wedding. Her actual reception itself finishes at midnight but there is a cellar downstairs where guests can go for the afterparty. I think she said the afterparty will finish at about 1.30 in the morning. So it might be worthwhile checking it out. Most venues don'...

Re: February Weight Loss Thread

My focus is on body measurements rather than actual weight loss. So my aim for this month is pretty much the same as it's always been - maintain my current diet and aim to go to the gym at least once a week. I've been measuring myself since Nov to monitor my progress and I can't wait to see what thi...

Re: Surprise Wedding

I googled temporary floor covering and 2 suggestions came up - something called self stick floor tiles and cheap carpet. If it's within your budget, maybe it's worthwhile speaking with your builder about it? Though if you stick to the no shoe policy in the house, your guests should be able to walk t...

Re: January Weight Loss Thread

Haven't been on here in ages! I'm happy to report that I have lost 1-2 inches in the waist, tummy, thigh and arm areas. Probably could've done better if I were more diligent at going to the gym but at least I didn't let my diet slide :D

We're organising yum cha the day after the wedding. And since we'll be paying for that, we'll only be inviting family and friends who have travelled from interstate/overseas.
