Wedding Gifts

Hi Just curious but what would you think if you opened up a Wedding Card from a friend and your gift was $20? Would you think they were a bit stingy or would you just be greatful that they came and not worry too much about the dollar value. I realize that people don't have a lot of money these days ...

Re: There's always one......

Thanks guys for your responses. I knew I wasn't over reacting myself but just wanted to check in that this was the case and clearly my mother behaved disgustingly. My mother made it quite clear to me that I should have told her that I was getting my Dads partner to read the poem. I said to her why w...

There's always one......

Hi Did a guest spoil your day? I sure had one and I can tell you I am livid. One guess who it was - yes my own mother. My mother got upset at my wedding because I had chosen my Dad's partner to do a reading at the ceremony. Mind you my mother got to step forward with my 12 month old daughter so that...

What part of Weddings do you dislike doing?

Hey I was curious as to what brides and grooms hate the most about organising their wedding. Weddings are fun to organise but there is always a task that is possibly tedious and not the most fun task. What would you pay someone to do for you? I myself dislike writing the Thankyou Cards to guests aft...

Re: lunch time weddings

My husband and I got married on 10th November. Ours was a small intimate gathering of 32 people. We also have a 12 month old daughter which we needed to consider as well as interstate guests. What we did was choose a venue which accommodated our ceremony and reception. The venue was beautiful. We ha...

Re: Interested in Wedding Schedule

Thanks for the replies. The only traditional things we will be incorporating into the reception time will be some speeches, cake cutting and a first dance. I'm not going to throw boquet or do the garter so that won't be an issue. The private room as I said is booked till 6pm and then we all must vac...

Re: So many flowers!

As my wedding is just a small intimate gathering of 35 and because we are not having a bridal party as such, I have opted not to get my mother and father corsage and buttonhole. My fiancee will have a buttonhole and I will have my boquet and flowers for tables at reception but that is it. I don't re...

Re: Restaurant for Reception

If you are adamant that it should be in a restaurant, why not choose one that offers a buffet. Your guests will be able to get up and choose the foods they want from a buffet which could give more variety.

Re: Incorporating child's birthday in wedding

Hi Our daughter is turning 1 the day before our wedding day so what we have decided to do is to include her in the wedding as a ring bearer and then have the celebrant tell the guests that it is her B'day and acknowledge that with everyone then we will present our daughter at the ceremony with her g...

Re: Do we need a cake knife...

Hi I think that in your case you don't need a cake knife. I am having a single tier cake and I have decided not to have a cake knife. What for?? A knife is a knife, so long as you have something to make the initial cut it doesn't really matter does it and I really don't think guests are going to say...

Re: Hair and Makeup Trials

Hi I'm not having a Hair or Makeup trial as it is too expensive and that money could be better spent elsewhere in my opinion especially if you are on a tight budget. For me, I'm not getting one as I really can't afford it but if I did have the dollars to spare and it wasn't an issue financially I pr...

Re: Specialist dress alterations Gold Coast or Brisbane

Hi I understand why you would be ultra cautious. I just had my dress taken in around bust area and where she had to take it in there were sequins which she had to unpick each of them to take it in then sew them all back on again. She also took my hem up and added in some padded bust cups to give me ...

Interested in Wedding Schedule

Hi I am just wondering if anyone has chosen to go with a ceremony and reception that is not an evening thing. I am getting married in November and alot of the guests are from another state and of course we have a 1 year old daughter to consider so we opted to have a day wedding where we start the ce...
