How early should you send the save the date for a destination wedding?

Ours will be in Boracay (Philippines) in Feb 2014.

We're having a wedding event in Ballarat before the wedding - FH is from there. It's pretty much a smaller reception minus the ceremony.

Any ideas where we can do it? We're looking at Feb 2014.
