Re: Bridesmaid's Guests??

Personally I don't think it's an issue. Anyone can attend a wedding ceremony - it's the reception that's invite-only. We had several people who I didn't know (and didn't invite) attend our wedding ceremony, including some people that just walked in off the street into the Cathedral to have a look. I...

Re: Card to Groom on the day??

Why not just write him a letter on some nice stationery? This is what I did, and I put it together with a little box of gifts for him to open on the morning of the wedding.

Re: Learning to drive - Auto or manual?

I wouldn't bother just going for an auto licence, even if you intend on only driving an auto car. I say definitely go for a manual licence and be done with it. I've had my manual licence since I was 17, and I value the flexibility of being able to drive anything I hop into. Also, even if you only in...

Re: Songs for Videographer

Many of our songs on our DVD were different from the day, as we had a swing band at our wedding rather than DJ etc. Here are the things we chose, some may be helpful. Girls getting ready - Angel (Sarah McLachlan) - Come away with me (Norah Jones) Boys getting ready - Stand inside your love (Smashing...

Re: What time should I arrive at the Ceremony

If the ceremony starts at 3:30pm, then you should be arriving as close to that time as possible, IMO. I don't agree with keeping guests waiting.

Re: Most comfortable wedding shoes?

I'm glad you posted this topic, I am also after comfy shoes and don't mind spending a bit also. I don't normally wear heels, and when I have for spring carnival etc, my feet have been in agony by the end of the day. So I am a little worried that I will have really sore feet by the end of the weddin...

Re: how freakin hard is it to find purple shoes!!! RAH

Clarice do a lot of shoes in various colours, several with purple. I know their style "Alana" comes in a purple. You can check them out here on the Suna website:

Names. I'd much rather have a pretty coathanger with my name on it, rather than just bridesmaid.

Re: To chair or not to chair?

I much prefer to sit at a wedding ceremony, whether it is indoors or outdoors. I think it looks more elegant and formal that way. Plus ive been to weddings where it has been quite hot and uncomfortable for guests standing, and others on grass where the ladies' heels sunk into the turf. If it were me...

Re: Glasses

I wore contacts. I generally always wear contacts if I'm going out of an evening, or going out socially, but wear glasses to work, and when I'm at home. I've been using contacts since I was about 21, so it wasn't a decision I made specifically for the wedding.

Re: What did you write on your Thank You Cards??

I wrote all of ours out by hand. For people who gave gifts, I wrote something along the lines of, Dear X & Y, Thank you so much for helping us to celebrate our wedding, it meant so much to us both that you were able to share in our big day. Thank you also for the beautiful crystal champagne flut...

I can recommend Matrix - Sleek, and DeLorenzo - Rejuvin8. Both are pretty excellent, I'm using the Matrix at the moment.

They are WAY better than acrylic. I don't get fakies put on very often at all, but I have had both bio sculpture gel nails and acrylic, and the gel is the way to go.

Re: menu- wording alternate drop

So as a guest you dont get to choose what you want as you main?? If the person beside you has chicken then you get lamb?? - tough if you don't like lamb?? Is this normal? Of the 20 something weddings I've been to I have never seen this done before. (sorry to hijack - I'm just confused) Correct. Of ...

Re: Reception Venues

We only looked at one venue. I'd loved the venue for a long time (again for the location, classic feel of the venue, and other reasons) and always considered it for our wedding. After we were engaged, I went through with DH and he loved it too, so we never even considered checking out other venues, ...
