Re: What do you think of this entrance song?

A lot of people choose funny/humourous/theme songs to enter the reception, so the idea itself is not that out there. And by that stage of the day, things are generally more relaxed anyway. At my BIL and SIL's wedding, they walked in to the Indiana Jones theme. Another wedding I went to reasonably re...

Re: Dessert plus wedding cake - too much?

Do you think having a canapes plus a 3 course meal and then serving cake is too much? Would it be better to bag the cake for guests to take home? We did this exact same thing and it worked fine. Because people had already had the dessert course, the cake slices that the wait-staff served out were a...

Re: Trash the Dress question

I did a TTD in my real dress, it was a water one in freshwater, up at Buderim rainforest park. I had it dry-cleaned immediately after, and it came up immaculate, no damage. There's some more pics in my hall of fame thread. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v296/silvermorde/w-1.jpg I toyed with the i...

Re: who organises hens?

I organised most of my hen's jointly with one of my BMs. I wanted it that way, as I'm a control freak  I sort of want one but think its a bit rude for me to organise one myself, and dont want to ask/tell someone (sister/friend) to organise one. I don't think it's necessarily rude to have to or...

Re: Where do I find Heel stoppers?

I haven't used them but I've also heard they aren't that good. Regardless of whether you have heel stoppers or not, your shoes will probably get a bit grubby throughout the day, especially if they are white/light coloured, and if you are walking around a lot for your location photo shoot. Therefore,...

Re: Stamps on RSVPs??

We printed the return address on our RSVP reply envelopes included with our RSVP cards, but didn't include stamps. In the end, out of 150 odd people invited, I only had to chase up 4 people.

We also found a lot of our guests hand-delivered their RSVPs, so the postage cost would have been wasted.

Re: Gyno recs in Brisbane?

For a gyno, I can recommend Dr Melissa Buttini, she works out of the Wesley Medical Centre at the Wesley Hospital, hopefully that's close enough to the city for you. She's great.

Re: During dinner?

I personally would have slower music. Generally it is only background music while your guests have their dinner, and not too many people will be listening to it as such. Ditto to the above. Some good options (a lot of these are older style songs/music, but just perfect for background music during d...

Re: Opening Gifts at Engagement Party

I am one of thsoe people who dislikes opening gifts in front of people because it tends to get turned into a spectacle, but if there's monetary gifts involved, it's definitely poor etiquette to be opening them in front of all the guests. Besides, it's nobody else's business how much you are given by...

Nope to all three. Reception venue provided the knife and flutes, and I have no idea who's pen we used to sign the certificate in the church. Could have come from out of someone's handbag for all I remember.

Re: Do you combine your income..etc?

We have one joint account for everything, there is no splitting of anything. Our one account offsets our mortgage, so we use our credit card for all bills and daily expenses, and then just pay that off monthly. It works really well.

Can anyone recommend any wedding cake makers in Brisbane? :) Sarah-Jane from Cake That is awesome! We had 3 tier choc mud, whitechoc and raspberry mud, and marble mud. Icing was rolled with filigree and ribbons along each tier base, fresh roses between the tiers, and fresh lilies too. I thinkit was...

Re: INVITING A PLUS 1 YOUR GUEST BARELY KNOWS THEMSELVES!!! :S

If you want to go by etiquette, it's appropriate to invite guests' partners that you don't know, only if they are engaged, married, or living together as a couple. In your situation, I wouldn't be inviting those extras who you don't know.

Re: How often do you make wedding status updates on FB?

Obviously it was 2 years ago for me, but I posted hardly anything in status updates about our wedding planning. It bugs me when people post repeatedly about the same content (not just about weddings) so I steer clear of doing it myself.

There is also the other "majors", the Sofitel, the Marriott, and the Hilton. Also the Novatel, Holiday Inn, The Sebel and Citigate, the Chifley, etc. They are all in the CBD. We stayed in a suite at the Sofitel on our wedding night, it was very nice, very plush.

Re: Would you wear this to a wedding?

I love it, it's very 'you' Loz!

I certainly wouldn't have a problem if someone wore that dress to my wedding, but then some brides are obviously more particular about guests wearing white or pale shades. Do you know the bride personally? If so, it couldn't hurt to ask if she's ok with it!

I didn't bother with a going away/leaving outfit. From our reception, we went straight to our hotel, and I wore my wedding dress there. I loved my dress to bits, and there was no way I was going to take it off before I needed to!
