Re: Hair dresser at salon or hair 'stylist' at home

I had a hair-dresser & MUA come to my house - it worked well cause they can work together to save time (ie, when one person is having make-up done, one person can be having hair done etc). I was able to have both a make-up & hair trial beforehand so I felt comfortable with both of them and k...

Re: Titanium earrings

Thanks a lot! I will have to get some from etsy at some stage. I finally found a pair to put in my firsts which is good & I eventually decided to go with medical-grade plastic ones to go in my seconds to give them a chance to heal up - they were still sore & red after 11 weeks when I finally...

Titanium earrings

Does anyone know where to get titanium earrings in Australia? I'm having trouble finding some - I have ordered a pair from a website in the uk but they are taking ages to get here and my ears are going nuts all of a sudden. I think I'm all of a sudden allergic to 14kt gold earrings, which have been ...

Re: Shoes?? whats your plan?

I wore flats the whole time - I did consider having two pairs of shoes, but then my dress would have been too long for the flats. So I just got a pair of plain peach coloured ballet flats from target - they were really comfy, especially as I put some party-feet in them for extra comfort - I didn't s...

Bathroom Reno

Has anyone ever reno'd their bathroom? Do you have any tips? Is there anything we need to know/be aware of? We are still in the early stages (ie haven't decided if we will do it yet - just researching and getting all the info). Also, if anyone doesn't mind sharing - how much did it cost you, how big...

Re: Lolly buffet - will people use it?

We had one, and everyone loved it! All of the adults found their 'inner-child' and spent ages at the lolly bar filling their bags. Many went back for seconds and/or took some home for their kids - make sure you have enough lollies (over-cater if anything) cause people will probably go back for more....

Re: Sore neck management

Thanks everyone! :) I'm definitely keen to give acupuncture a go! This probably will sound snarky, but hows your posture/bra size? I used to have really bad back and neck pain. I got a better fitting bra with wider straps (I'm only 150cm and a DD) and a soft brace to realign my spine and it's all bu...

Re: Share your fist dance?

We had an extra-long first dance cause the wrong song came on, so we danced to that (All I Want is You - U2) and then danced to the song we had chosen - Everything I Do (I Do it for you) Bryan Adams. :) We just shuffled, we meant to get dancing lessons but the budget & time wouldn't allow it, so...

Re: Wedding Cars - pros and cons?

We didn't hire any cars, but we did buy ribbon for the ones we used which made them look really good.l My FIL has a cllassic car so we were able to use that as the bridal car, but my bridesmaids just came in my parents car - we put ribbon on it, my dad washed it etc so it looked fine. The boys came ...

Re: Byron Bay wedding 2013

I went to a beach wedding in Byron, it was really pretty. They picked a quiet section of the beach under the cliffs. One thing to bare in mind with Byron (ie, might want to warn your guests in advance) is parking is a pain in the ...., especially on a weekend. We drove around for half an hour trying...

Re: BUDGET DILEMAS

Our wedding & honeymoon came to $11,000 approx. My dress cost $600 as it was off-the-rack and the last dress left in a discontinued line - I got lucky and it was my size. If you are on a budget it definitely pays to shop around for your dress because you can get some real bargins without having ...

Re: Wedding day underwear

L.I.W - I know the feeling! My dress was a corset but I also wore a bustier underneath for support as I am the same size as you. I was actually really comfortable - I was lucky with the bustier as it was well fitted and only started to get uncomfortable sitting in the car on the way to the hotel at ...

Re: Any brides having a plain wedding band?

Yep I got a plain yellow-gold band & don't regret it as I don't have to worry about keeping it clean etc.

Plus, I have really small dainty hands and I found when I tried on wedders with diamonds with my e-ring, it just looked too much for my finger.

Re: signing pen, cake knife...

It's totally up to you! :) We used the Celebrant's pen, and we just used a really nice silver knife that we already had and put a ribbon around it. I doubt anyone really noticed. As for cake bags, we had a lolly bar so I just got some extra bags so people could take cake home if they wished. Our cak...

I took about three weeks - one week before & the honeymoon.

I found I was organised so I didn't actually have much to do in the week beforehand, it was just nice to have the time to relax etc.

Re: Did it rain on your Wedding day?

It is just frustrating when you have had in your head for over a year the picture of a SUNNY day and outdoor photos. We have an alternative spot for the ceremony and I have gumboots ready and umbrellas booked for hire. Just don't want my dress getting muddy and wet - Surely it won't stain though. H...

Re: Question about the menu!

I think buffets are fine for smaller and less formal weddings, but I don't know how well it would work with a big/formal wedding. We had a spit-roast buffet for about 50 guests and it worked really well - I haven't heard any objections from anyone about having to line up for food etc - there was so ...
