Bridesmaids carry light

Mon Sep 14, 2009 6:25 pm

I thought of this idea over the weekend:
In keeping with our theme (Fusion), I thought it'd be nice for my bridesmaids to carry some kind of light (tea-light, candle, lantern) instead of a bouquet.
Maybe they can have a couple of stalks of flowers but not a bouquet.... or even wear a wrist corsage?

the candle/tealight would have to be in some kind of covered transparent box or something as it is an outdoors ceremony!

i can't find any inspirational pictures so i just need some reassurance that this is not too ridiculous of an idea!

I like the idea. If you go with some stalks of flowers maybe you could have battery operated fairy lights strung through them?

Not ridiculous at all. We did something a bit like this. It wasn't my BMs though - it was my mum and MIL who carried our lit family candles down the aisle, just before the BMs set off down the aisle. Our wedding was indoors though so we didn't need anything to shield the candles to stop the flames going out, but I think it would be pretty easy to find something like that for your BMs.

There should be a pic of them walking down the aisle in my hall of fame thread, to give you an idea. It looked lovely.

I think its a wonderful idea! I wanted to have all my guests to have a candle and my bridesmaids carry a candle to light the head of the pews candle and they in turn would light the candles down the line. But unfortunately in a heritage listed property we couldnt...

I found this which is kind of nice..

I keep thinking of those little paper cups you see at night time memorials and thinking you could do something like that with vellum perhaps? Or like the candlesticks/glasses you found but with a henna patterned vellum wrapped around them?

I cant think of the right term to ask google to give me the pics I want!

A bouquet handle I think! I found that one and also a "tussy mussy" holder but nothing with a candle. You might have to build the candle into the bouquet. Are you doing your flowers yourself?

i need 3 - 1xMOH + 2xBM...

i found this on ebay: Moroccan Lantern but they're $17.95 each, and $9.95 postage.

i don't mind the fact that they're different colours. as long as they're not too multi-coloured...

i really like this one as it's a good size & colour:

Surely there'd be a craft market in Darwin that would sell something similar?
