Hi Redbot,
I think it depends on the paticular Church. I know St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney "recommends" $2000! Other smaller churches ask for less, but as it is a donation I don't think there is any pressure to not meet the full amount recommended :)

If your church has no set fee, your 'donation' amount is usually at your discretion. If there is a fee, again it's at your discretion whether you want to contribute anything extra.

:tick: Agree. We're getting married the Catholic way in a cathedral too and the fee is $1250. Apart from that we plan to give a small amount to our priest as a thank you gesture, though at this moment we're not sure how much yet. I've heard some of my friends say it doesn't even have to be in the form of money, it can be a gift like a bottle of Scotch whisky. It really depends on how well you know the priest :D

We have not had anything said to us about it, Nothing in the way of fees or donations but I know that normally we give donations for such things.

Our fee was $400 and that included the registration of marriage etc. Seems very cheap compared to everyone else..

Our Catholic Church is a $400 donation which includes the donation to the priest, but we will probably give an extra donation as well. A normal church is usually much cheaper than a cathedral.
