Presents for your Husband!

Tue Aug 17, 2010 11:22 am

Hi girls,

I know its a tradition to get your hubby to be a gift on the big day...but i have no idea what to get mine! I struggle on Birthdays anyway!

What is/did everyone get their FH on the big day?

:)

I got my DH:

- New cologne for the wedding day
- Cufflinks
-"Groom" socks and underwear
- A little tin of mints painted up as a tuxedo (he likes to have mints)

I put all this together in a little gift box with a hand-written note for him to read on the morning of our wedding.

We are not giving eachother gifts, we would rather buy eachother something on the Honeymoon (and we are building straight after) :D

There are heaps of threads on this.

I got DH a watch, cufflinks, and a pair of embroidered boxers with our surname on them.

I was going to get FH something, then decided against it as we're already spending so much on the wedding. FH never though of it until one of our married friends asked what he was getting me.
FH really wants an ipad and said we can get each other one as a wedding gift, but more of an early wedding present! This is how bad FH wants an ipad - he's trying to convince me it's actually a really good wedding present?! :e_think: :e_eh:

My FH's heritage is Scottish so I got him a wool scarf in his clan tartan. I'm also going to get him a backgammon set . I chose them as he'll use both regularly and be able to keep them for a long time.

I am in the same boat, being a destination wedding we cant really fit a whole lot in! So i have made up a "groom" shirt for him and all of the groomsmen (and the girls as well!) to wear on the wedding morning and just their fave board game to play over a beer and break the ice. I think its more about the feel good factor then the price, which is a bonus if your saving for the honeymoon! :D

We're not exchanging gifts either.

In my mind the wedding band is a gift of sorts.

My FH ordered both our fathers and his best man personalised cufflinks and toyed with the idea of getting some for himself but decided against it. So I did a sneaky and ordered them for him! They are little motobikes and I know he will love them. I also arranged for our wedding bands to be engraved with our wedding date and "forever" which is a suprise. The jeweller didn't charge me which was a bonus so I haven't had to spend much money to give him a couple of nice suprises on the day. I don't think I will be getting anything (don't think FH even realises some people give gifts?!) but the pleasure is in the giving to me

I saw this idea on someone's facebook and loved it. FH LOVED the game Guess Who as a child, and even wanted to include it on our gift registry. So i'm planning on buying a set, and customising all the cards with our friends and family members.

I am thinking of buying my FH a 'fake' title of Lord/Laird. I'll give it to him in my speech and say something about how because he is marrying a princess (me! ) he now becomes a Lord  Yep, cheesy, but I know our guests will love it.

I’m planning on getting him a nice watch. Maybe with a little bling if I can afford it…
