Wedding times?

Wed Aug 25, 2010 1:55 pm

I know there is a thread around here for it, but I am a bit special today and cant find it, but what time was between your wedding ceremony and reception? Did you have enough time for photos and things?

Our reception starts at 6 (canapes in the private bar) then at 6:30 reception doors open. I have no idea what time we walk in (I have only ever been to one wedding reception, and it was a lunch time one).

Anyways questions I have:
- What time was your ceremony
- how much time did it leave you between ceremony and reception
- Was this enought time?

Thanks!! :D

Our ceremony is at 2pm and reception starts at 5.30pm, we are giving our guests the option of arriving from 3.30pm (straight after ceremony) and opening up a private cash bar area so they have somewhere to fill in the time :D

We're doing ours all in the one venue, so we've got ceremony at 3pm which we expect to be done by 3.30-3.45pm, then we've got an hour of photos and during that hour our guests have an hour of canapes and drinks, and then reception at 5pm.

Our guests are staying in accommodation at the venue, so they'll have the option to pop back to their room to freshen up (especially good for the oldies if they find themselves crying off all their makeup) or they can get stuck into the canapes and booze.

Our ceremony is at 5.15pm. Reception to start at 6pm - kicking off with canapes and drinks. Mind you we are doing all our photos before hand.

Our ceremony is going to commence at 3:30pm to be finished by 4pm. Expecting formalitis & family photos to be finished by 4:30pm & then the bridal party is off to do our photos. Our ceremony & reception venue is the same place. ( So guests can also duck back to their rooms to freshen up) There is going to be water stations set up ( end of Nov wedding) and cash bar available. Canapes will be served from 5:30pm for 45mins then guests will be entering reception with the bridal party entering at 6:30pm.

Our wedding is the same, most guests are staying at the venue so they can duck out if they want. Our ceremony is at 4pm, done by 4:30. Canapes start at 5pm with a cash bar available, and reception doors open at 6:30. We expect to arrive by about 7pm after sunset photos are done.

Our ceremony was at 4pm (the earliest we could reserve the venue) with our pre dinner drinks starting at 6pm and our reception beginning at 6.30pm. Our venues were quite close so it was only a few minutes drive to get to the reception and we had all our location photos around our ceremony venue (in several different spots) which meant we didn't have to travel for photos.

It really depends on your personal preference and how long you want for photos etc. I went to a 11am ceremony the other week and the reception didnt start til 6pm, 7 hours was wayyyyy to long and i almost fell asleep in between or there was nothing organised in the way of drinks, snacks or entertainment, i think it runined the vibe for the night (plus the wedding was 1hr away from anyones house).
We are having a 3.30pm ceremony, for the reception and drink to open and start at 5.30pm a bridal party entrance at 6pm. Its personal preference as to how far you need to travel, photos etc but just think about maybe having canapes or something for your guests if you have a big break between the two is my only advice! :D :D

we are having the ceremony & reception at the same resort, plus most of the guests are staying there as well, so they can go back to rooms to freshen up if they want.
Ceremony is at 3pm - 3.30
Family photos & shots around the grounds 4 - 4.30 (the we are going for location shots down at the beach)
Canapes for guests & cash bar in pool bar opens at 4.30 with canapes at 5pm
Reception area opens at 6pm
We arrive at 6.30

we only had 2 hours in between as ours was lunch .. we did not get too many photos taken on the day but we had agreed in advance with our photographers to take the photos weeks before the actual day .. it may be a good idea to look for photographers that are happy to do the "pre-wedding" photo session.. if it's done a few weeks before, it may also give the photographer enough time to edit the photo and you can play the slideshow on the day! ..

I think the way we are doing it is

2:30 - wedding ceremony
3:00 - walking out getting photos done etc
3:30 - 6:00 pm - people head back to Tabcorp (40 or so minutes away if you drive slowly) or home, there is a bar, gambling and nibblies there. They could also wander around the 5 acres of gardens we have at Woolings Hill
6:00 - Canapes
6:30 - People go into the room and we prep for entrance.

5.30 ceremony starts
6.30 Canapes start
7.00 people enter reception room

So that will be about 45 mins for photos
