Is this dress okay for a wedding?

Thu Oct 28, 2010 12:57 pm

So my friend is getting married. We are really great friends but I don't really know his wife - they started dating this year, got engaged within a few months and will be married in a few weeks. She doesn't live locally - we're not even facebook friends, so I'd feel a bit uncomfortable asking her.

Anyway, I bought this dress, and was thinking I might wear it to their wedding. But the bust is all white.
There were a few of DH friends who wore all white to our wedding, and that irritated me a bit. I mean, it didn't wreck my day, but every time I look at the photos, I think "who does that??"

Is this dress too white?

Thanks for your help ladies.

Beautiful dress...borderline for a wedding tho.

It's hard, because the bride could wear almost the exact same dress without the print and then you're in trouble. On the other hand, if she is in a ball gown with a train then it will be fine.

Given that you can't ask the bride, I would probably say wear something else.

I love the dress tho!

I'm sorry, I will have to say wear something different too. I also noticed how you say that you are a good friend of him but not so close to her and I'm thinking how if you wear that dress it could be misinterpreted to a personal offence to her since you don't really know her.

Yeah, I think that was my biggest concern. That's okay, I'll save the dress for another time, thanks ladies!!

A friend of mine wore a dress very similar to our wedding, didn't bother me but if you had something similar at your wedding and it bothered you your probably better not wearing it then.

i love the dress, but prob not wear it to a wedding, esp if you dont know the bride
i had a friend wear something similar to mine, and i only thought twice about it because id read on here about brides getting upset by people wearing pale colours....
