Permission from church

Mon Nov 22, 2010 2:09 pm

Hi ladies

just wondering if i need permission from a caltholc church to marry in another church.. FH and I decided on an Uniting church. Usually if you are Catholic (as i am) and marry in another catholic church OUTSIDE your parish you must get permission but unsure if its a totally differnet church

Any help will be great! x

I think its if you want the priest to go there?

We have to get permission from th archbishop to have a Catholic wedding in a generic chapel... thank god my Nanna is buddies with the archbishop, haha.

Not unless you want the Priest or Catholic Church to be involved in any way, you don't.

DH is Catholic and we married in the Uniting Church no probs :)

I think the only other thing is if you have children you want christened in a Catholic Church, than your marriage needs to be recognised by them. I think it'll be safe to talk to your Parish just in case this is something you are planning to do in the future.
