Thanks for your quick response! What I had in mind is more like this but beads and only one side:

Ok, well I just came back from my alterations fitting and never thought I'd say this, but I don't like my dress anymore

I'm only 165cm and wearing heels that are not too high. When I try the dress on as it is, I love it and think it looks great. But after the seamstress pinned it up to my length, I don't like it anymore. Because the dress sits low on the hips, it makes me look really unbalanced and like I have no legs. I don't know what to do. Up till today, I was really looking forward to everything but now I just feel miserable. The dress cost 3k including the rush fee and I don't even think it's flattering anymore.

I took pics but have to post them at home as I don't have my USB cable with me. I just feel like cancelling the whole wedding now - is it even worth all this running around and stress when you're not happy with how you look :(

I would like to see the pics when you post them. Are you sure it wasnt just the angle you were looking from?

Why would the changing of the length affect the look? Why did you fall in love with the dress in the first place? Can you get another dress?

Going by Malin's post, is this your dress? http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=A3409

I can see why you would think it looks unbalanced if you shorten it, but yeah I would really like to see the pics!

I was worried about this when I first tried it on but the sales assistant assured me it'd be fine. Maybe I should call the alterations place and tell them to raise it from the waist rather take length from the bottom? If that's even possible...

That's certainly a gorgeous dress. The model looks like 7 foot. I'd ring the store and see what the option is. Maybe you just need to see it all finished though, and with your hair/make up/veil etc.

I just called and spoke to the seamtress. She said she wouldn't be starting work on my dress for a week or so and said I can come in on the 24th to try on again and see what I think. She said she could lift it from the waist if I really wanted but she doesn't recommend it and it would cost about $300 extra as they would have to remove the whole skirt and reattach it afterwards and redo the draping and everything, which sounds a bit risky. She claims it did look proportional but I don't know if they really give an honest opinion

I hope it all works out. I am your height and thats my dress too! So if you look out of porportion i will too! :(

Can't wait to see pics. I'm sure its fine though.. I think the closer we get to these weddings the more we stress about everything.

if your dress is the MS Rowena, WOW! stunning!

But I can see how the style may make you think you look out of proportion... I don't think I would be messing with the waist - it looks very complicated and you really wouldn't want to alther the lovely drape.

Having said that... could your seamstress make some alterations to 'tighten' the dress in a little more, making more of a mermaid/fishtail style? That would elongate you again. :)

Does anyone think the model is standing on a small box, or is she just amazingly long legged?
