Anyone made their own veil?

Fri Mar 18, 2011 12:42 pm

I would like to have a go at making my own veil, does anyone have a pattern for one or any tips for me?

No, I ended up buying a second hand veil as I couldnt justify the hundreds for a new one. Perhaps look at buying second hand one or ebay for a cheapie, if you cant make one.

I think Ulya made hers...

I myself won't be - I am the sort of person whose creativity is limited to what I can purchase from others!

Yep I made mine, well technically in the process. It has cost me less than $40 for material, beads clips etc. I used my BM's pattern i really loved her veil but wrong colour and it had a slight scorch mark in it but what i did was brought the material, from Spotlight i think it was, and then gathered it in in the centre or where i wanted it (time consuming and frustrating but well worth it) then stiched it so it wouldn't come apart, sewed beads on and i am about to put it on a clip. I haven't got the length just yet I have my dress fitting in 3 weeks i'll know then the exact length of each layer and i will just further trace around my friends veil for the shape. Honestly if you have patience and a friend or mum to help it is well worth it.

I will show pics when it is done but looks pretty good so far. Couldn't justify over $200 in soem shops for something less basic than what i was making.

I bought mine from clearance for $40

I know on offbeat bride there's a tutorial to make your own if you want to go look there?

I did, well my mum did. We just bought some tulle from spotlight, did big gathering stiches acros the top and attached it to a specific comb, also bought at spotlight.
My Mum sewed a few beads on the bottom and voila!
There are some great you tube tutorials for more detailed instructions...

hi my step mum made hers and it was gorgeous- she bought some really good quality material and simply attached a hair comb to it and put some beading across the top of the comb.

very simply but gorgeous
