Really high heels

Thu Apr 07, 2011 12:01 am

Apparently I need to get 14cm heels for my wedding dress. Can anyone recommend a comfy pair? Obviously it will need to be a platform, the higher the platform the better I reckon.

Why do you "need" to get them?

Wow that's high - would be interested to know if you can get something comfortable at this height! You'd be practically walking on your toes.

Would you be wearing those heels all day?

Not sure why you "need" shoes that high for your dress. Generally, you buy the shoes you want and your dress maker hems the dress to go with the height of your shoes.
But if you absolutely need shoes that high I have no idea! Good luck finding a comfy pair

Wow! 14 cm is really high. Up to 12cm are pretty easy to get. Generally you will be looking at a 2 - 2.5cm platform with a 10 - 12.5 cm heel. That said I have found some 14cm beauties!

Anne by Tony Bianco are 14cm though... $170.00

As are Sartor for $160.00

Sebond are 15cm and $190.00

Cabaret are just under at 13cm and $160.00

Hmm - I am not sure that I actually like these, in fact I don't but you might!

Bordello Teeze 14.6cm, $60.00 USD + postage.

But that is about all I have found. Alan Pinkus seems to sit about the 10cm mark as does Panache

You shouldn't "need" to get a specific heel height of shoe - any dressmaker worth their salt will be able to hem your wedding dress to an appropriate length based on the shoes you select.

Also keep in mind the fact that you are going to be on your feet all day - 14cm heels are not exactly practical at the best of times, let alone on your wedding day. Besides, most shoes of that heel height are going to have a significant platform, and most of them do tend to look pretty trashy as a formal shoe, IMO.

Agree :tick:

You don't want to be walking like a giraffe, or hobbling most of the night.

Agree with everything everyone else has said
these are mine from dare, they are a 12cm heel, about $100. Dare also has lots of other higher shoes too.

Have you tried walking in shoes that high before?

I keep second guessing mine, cos although I can walk fine in them now, on they day you have to be managing a long dress, train and possibly a hoop, plus thinking about how to walk. I cant actually walk in mine on polished floors, only carpet. Also the stiletto sinking into grass etc.

Just something to think about.

I get your need for really high heels as I'm looking for a high pair too in purple. Still yet to find the perfect pair.. I'm really short and Fh tall. He is over 40cm taller than me.. I've been looking on eBay but haven't seen any that great. Hope you find some ! :)

Trixee...I had 13cm heels for my day...my shoes were from Salvatore Ferragamo and I kid you not...from 1:30pm when I first put them on till 12:30am that evening...I did NOT feel a thing!!! they are the most amazing shoes ever!! sure, they did cost a pretty penny, but they were worth EVERY cent..especially since they are shoes I will wear over and over again

Do your shopping and invest in a really good pair if you want comfort, but dont be discouraged to get them as higher heels do not necessarily mean discomfort!

this is a pic of mine..
