Wedding Stalking protocol?

Sat May 28, 2011 5:13 pm

After going to look at the wedding of a wc member today, I realized I had never stalked anyone's wedding before and i didn't know if there was any protocol?

I stayed a good distance away!

Are there any rules to follow when checking out someone else's wedding, weather you know them or not?

Eta I did ask the bride if she minded that i came!

Hehe I've never even thought of this!

I guess, so long as you keep your distance and don't make yourself known, it doesn't really matter?

Can't say I would mind if someone did that at my wedding if I didn't know they were there.

Good question: Apparently most of mum's friends and my siblings friends are coming for a steaky beak to mine... It wouldn't suprise me if people from school came or my friend's church as my mate is doing part of the ceremony. I think it's ok... but I wouldn't want them to take up the seats of invited guests (the church wer're getting married in is tiny!) Keep your distance, dress appropriately and run it by someone in the bridal party or the bride's family.

At my first wedding my then husband to be's ex-wife was stickybeaking with her girlfriend across the road from the church as her daughter was my bridesmaid. Even though we got on I was glad I didn't see her and only found out because my (now ex) husband's uncle commented later how inappropriate he thought it was

I'm with you buggy, i hope someone comes to stalk my wedding, but being on an island, not sure that's going to help!

If you know the bride then i'd say you did the right thing in checking with her and also keeping your distance :)

I don't do it... not because I think it's wrong, but because when I was a kid my Mum wanted to check out what the bride was wearing at a wedding her Aunt was going to
Her Aunt's mentally disabled son (who was 40+ at the time) was having a little look around and not paying attention and spotted us and screamed "RAY!... F*CK!... RAY!" at the top of his lungs and wouldn't stop screaming it (he only knows 4 words, "Two", "F*ck", "Right", and for some reason "Ray" after Dad met him)

Never doing that again!!! 8O

You're all more than welcome to stalk my wedding! Just be prepared to get up early on a Sunday morning lol

I stalked a few weddings of girls I used to work with. But that was as a group, and we were told we could!

I agree, you checked & kept your distance.
I am also of the opinion I would feel pretty special if someone wanted to check out my wedding.

I had a few people stalk my wedding, one was our Groomsmen's mum who ran around with a camera yelling "oh you all look so pretty" no subtle at all, but she is a nice lady so we didn't mind! The other people were ones who worked with DH who we both disliked and we saw them socialising before and after the ceremony and eating and drinking our nibbles (garden wedding) which kinda pissed me off, considering they didn't even get dressed up!

I think if you keep your distance its fine! I would love to stalk peoples weddings but I never have time!

I agree...although we had to literaly tell this one Asian guy to 'keep walking' during our photoshoot in the city...we thought we was stopping to just have a look like everyone else, but he proceeded to take his camera out and take photos of us girls, and then followed us EVERYWHERE we went by foot!! 8O our videographer ended up filming him for a bit for giggles
