Mother of the Bride oufit

Wed Jun 29, 2011 8:47 pm

I have no idea where to even start to find something really lovely for my Mum. She is in the process of losing a fair bit of weight (go mum!) and is so excited to buy something a bit extravagant :D

I'm kind of thinking a skirt suit, like skirt and jacket.. you know those lovely luxurious ones with big collars.. i can't find a picture to save myself!

Where did your Mum buy her outfit? :)

Start with David Jones...there's always a big range of gorgeous MOB outfits there....my mum lost a lot of weight for the wedding too and splurged on a Perri Cutten dress from DJ's! she looked soo beautiful

I am hoping to get my mum to splurge on something from Caleche bridal house (they also do MOB). Otherwise we will start with DJs/Myer etc. She has also lost a fair bit of weight so I want her to feel great on the day.

Can anyone suggest something in a lower price bracket like around $200 that can be bought off the rack. It looks like we will have to pay for MOG dress since she spends all her money on beer and cigarettes (but that's another story). So with outfit and shoes plus the rest of the wedding I can't really justify spending much more.

I have never bought from these people but these places have outfits under $200.
Allegro Fashion
TJ Formal (US site)
Harts - only a few under $200
Light In The Box - they are a Chinese 'copy' factory though.
House of Brides also has some options (US site though)
Ezi Buy may have something too

Not sure where you are but my mum got a gorgeous skirt and jacket from Anthea Crawford outlet store on Bridge Rd in Melbourne. Heaps cheaper and the outfit is stunning!

My Mum got the most beautiful Anthea Crawford outfit from Myer (they have the same range at DJs). There are some really elegant outfits in their formal section.

My FMIL got hers from Ravish (there's a store at Knox City in Melbourne and also one or two other ones around that I know of).

Both were $$$$ I was actually really shocked at how over-priced the outfits were. Makes me feel so much better about how much I spent on my dress haha

My mothers words were, "You're not going to make me wear a dress, are you? I don't think I've worn one of them since my own wedding!" hahaha

Anthea Crawford has beautiful fabrics and great cuts. My mum is a 14/16 but looks slimmer in AC designs. She's also bought their jackets and skirts for mixing and matching to other formal occassions.

Rochelle I'm with you about the Bridge Rd outlet. Myer & DJs also have a great range.

Thank you so much!! I can't seem to find the Anthea Crawford stuff online but we can definitely go into Myer/DJs and have a look :)
