Ahhh help! Table seating!!

Thu Jul 14, 2011 10:46 am

Hi Girls,
I have been pulling my hair out over this for days!!
We have ended up with uneven numbers of people coming to our wedding.
As it is we have 7 people in our bridal party, and then 36 other guests.
I cant make this number go evenly into tables..
I originally had 5 tables of 8 and the bridal party table. But now we have rsvp's back I ended up uneven!
I dont really have enough room to add another table and have 6 tables of 6.. it would make the room to squishy...
So i just stick with my original plan and have gabs in the tables?? Will this look silly??
I would have x2 full tables of 8 a six table and two tables of 7! :/
Or I invite 3 extra people- but being a month out from the wedding my Mum think it would be rude to invite people last min?? And they would know they were on the seconds list...
Does eveyone else have this much trouble!!
Any suggestions much appriciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks,
Kirsty

I dont really think anyone will notice! You can space the seating out evenly around the tables, and not leave 'spaces'.

I agree, You don't have to have the same number of people on each table. Have some with a few less and just space them around the table.

Thanks girls!
The tables are square, so its abit hard not to leave "spaces", if they were round no one would notice the different numbers....

dont worry about it, i ended up with a few smaller and bigger tables tho mine were round, but
people wont care or go ohh shes only got 7 on that table bla bla bla.

you can alway have an extra chair seated at the other tables as while you are walking around the room talking to people you can sit down at their table rather than standing, as you will get sore by the end of the day!

if you can place the table of 6 at the front of the room closest to the bridal table that way no one has their back to you on that table.

If you figure it out let me know. I have some tables of 6 some of 9 and the rest 7 or 8

Same!

We had round tables, but we had one table which only had 6 on it, and others which had 7 or 8 and I think one may have even had 9. Really didn't matter, it was more an issue of grouping the people who needed to be together.

I like Donna's idea of a few tables with no-one on the side closest to the bridal table.

I don't think it much matters, it will give people more room to spread out etc. I don't agree with inviting people so close to the wedding date as it would look a little like you were inviting them just to "fill in gaps".

I really don't think it matters either and I honestly don't think people will notice. They are just there to have a good time and enjoy the night :)

I am not having even numbers on all our tables. It has just too hard. We have tables ranging from 6-10. I have been to plenty of weddings where they have uneven numbers on tables. No one really noticed.

Thanks heaps girls! :)
I feel alot better now!
My Mum and FH had told me the same thing... but it just sounds better coming from a bunch of people that have experience!
I kept thinking they were just telling me that to make me stop stressing!!!!
