Garden Ceremony Decorations

Postby sarahlouise on Sat Apr 07, 2012 11:22 pm

Hi there!

So we have a guest list of 60, and I cannot warrant spending $300+ on the Americana chairs or adding a chair cover and sash to each chair. My mum is helping me plan the wedding, and we have agreed on having enough plain white plastic chairs for our guests to sit.

Now I understand that most weddings only have about chairs for 1/3 or 1/4 of the guests to sit, but as we are having it in a garden on lawn I would prefer enough seats so our female guests in particular won't have their heels sinking into the grass.

Does anyone have any nice inexpensive ideas on decorating our ceremony area to look a little more elegant? Our venue will provide a red carpet, which I originally didn't want, but then thought again about our heels on the grass, and have decided to go with the carpet.

Thanks guys! :)

I bought chair sashes from ebay, from a Chinese supplier called 'mystery orient' or 'mystic orient'. Sorry, something orient like that. I bought about 25 and worked out about $1 each. I used them as pew ends, but they were about 3m long & could be tied around the chairs at the end of the aisle to add decoration.

For the girls with heels, they need heel stoppers. They come in clear and black, and can be used on grass to stop heels sinking in.

I have managed to buy some of those nice lantern lights on stands that will be on the aisle with an LED candle in them. Rose petals scattered around will make it feel nice too. There are ads around for chair covers second hand (allclassifieds has a few) that may work which will make them look a bit more formal.

Our Ceremony and Church decorations thread may assist. My tip is to start on the last page and work your way back to get the most recent contributions.

As for affordable options I personally am getting married indoors but to decorate I am simply lining my aisle with about 24 candle holders in various sizes and rose petals
