Bridal waltz/first dance - anyone NOT doing this?

Mon Nov 05, 2012 9:38 am

Hello all,

I am thinking about not having a bridal waltz/first dance. What are people's thoughts on this?

We are also not doing the bouquet toss and I am not keen on doing a big "entrance" to the reception like I have seen at most weddings I've been to. We want to keep the formalities on the down-low.

I think it's perfectly fine. It's your day so you should do things your way :)

I didnt do it! I also hate the fact that everyone would be further looking at us, while we are akwkardly dancing! We just cut the cake and then encouraged everyone to get up and dance! Wasn't a big deal at all! I did have a bouquet toss, coz I thought that it was kinda funny, but no garter toss as I think its a lil tacky. But, do whatever you want!!!

Lots of people don't do a first dance. Personally, I think you are better not to do one than to do the awkward shuffle. We had a 90 second choreographed rumba so it was a bit more fun, I would not have done longer though - you could practically hear Mr LIW counting in his head!

We're having a very low key affair and won't be doing one

nope not having one, its a low key lunch so really dancing wont come into it, though FH has said when we get home he will slow dance with me in the lounge lol

we arent having the garter toss or bouquet throwing or speeches etc.

I am not into routine dances either, so would never even think to do that.

your wedding day is yours and FH's so do what you want and what reflect you both :)

We're not dancing, nor are we providing for it. We're also not doing speeches, bouquet tossing, garter tossing, etc. Not even having a cake to cut.

It's intended to be a formal dinner; it's cheaper to serve the dessert the venue offers than get a cake in. Only 2 of our attendees are single so there's no point tossing anything.
