Yah that whole paying part is a real bummer.

Everything is pretty much organised for us, but I was waiting forever to find out what the main meal options were so we could decide the menu before we sent out the invites. Getting FH to get stamps tomorrow so I can mail them this weekend. Very excited, as I made them myself over the Christmas break and I can't wait for people to see them :)

Also finally ordered the dresses (mine, BMs and FGs). Very, very exciting , but very nerve-wrecking as well since I ordered with Duosheng. But have heard only good things about them.

One question, how much are you paying for your reception venue / food? I thought I was getting a good deal, but now it seems not so good, with all the extra "add-ons". I keep reading how these people have weddings that added to $10-$15K. How? How is that possible? I know mine will be more, being overseas at home in Canada, but $15K seems impossible!

Hope everyone else's planning is going well!

My planning I think is under control. I have now finalised flowers, received my invitations from being made and all 3 bridesmaids fit into their dresses (1 had a baby in September and has now lost 13kgs to fit into to - kudos to her!). Our reception will be about $12,000. $117per head x 100 people. I wont be too disappointed if some people can't make it haha. I think I need to do the following:

- finalise my jewellery and bridesmaid jewellery
- find a clutch. I've seen a nice one that I like but not sure if the shade is right so need to double check the dress colour
- place card/printed menus/seating chart. Not sure whether to wait until RSVPs are back? I am having these printed. I should call the place and see how much notice they need
- Hotel accommodation for night before and night of the wedding. I'm waiting to see if something comes up on wotif.com. Being middle of winter, I'm hoping that I can pick up a discounted room at the Stamford Plaza or the Marriott
- Organise printing of addresses on the envelopes. My cousin's husband is doing this so this will only take a weekend. I'm going to send invites out start of April, with RSVP due 23 May (I want plenty of time to follow up rsvps!)
- finalise readings etc for the ceremony
- try on a birdcage veil to see if I like it on me! (because I like them in photos)

hmmm think that's about it. I think it's under control

How is everyone else?

oh cdnbride when did you order your dress? i ordered mine from duosheng about a fortnight ago and im nervous too, even though like you i've read only good things. I just want it here! Now i have to amp up the exercise so i dont put on any weight. bought myself a pedometer and given myself the 10 000 steps goal.

For our reception we are paying $50 per person plus drinks which we are having a tab for. Our wedding is only small, 30-40 people so its comfortable for us.

As far as organising goes, i have the boys booked in on the 20th this month to get fitted for their suits. Have my makeup trial on the 27th, spray tan trial on the 26th. should hopefully get my hair trial on the 27th too.
All outfits are sorted bar shoes, need to get bm's their jewellery, still need to do seating plan but will do that in june. in the meantime i need to do the backings for the place cards, my jewellery, veil and tiara i have here aswell as my shoes.
I think what i might do is write out a list and then tick it all off.

paying for it is a real cow but well its gotta be done. I'm trying to push fh for a bigger photography package atm so we could at least cover first dance, cake cutting and speeches without it being mock. be nice to get us in the moment.

ok well need to get my children ready for bed and then will post list of what i've got.

Hi everyone....I am just new to this july post as our initial wedding date was the 28th august. Sort of organised...haha. So lucky to have my 2 sisters and 2 best friends as my bridesmaids. They are keeping me sane.

We are getting married on the 24/7. Easy to remember!! We are inviting about 140 people but are probably expecting about 100. Everything so far has been able to be kept under $10000 but that includes honeymoon and my parents are offering to pay $3000 towards the reception.

Good luck planning to everyone. xox

Hey dome diva, welcome to the July thread!

Went and sorted out suit hire yesterday at Roger David. I just need to ring them up and change the vest colours though, was having doubts last night. going to match the gm's vests with the bm's and going to keep fh in black and white with a touch of colour. will have to upload some pics to my s&t. Dont have any irl ones but have ones from their website.

Hi July brides! I'm getting married in Darwin on July 31st! (so I just scrape into this thread!) I'm so excited about it as it's coming up so quickly. I pretty much have everything sorted. Just got dress fittings to do and finalise extra little things. Not long now!!!!

hey how is everyone?

I'm feeling really undecided on my hair and makeup options at the moment. Have hair trial booked for next saturday. Fh wants my hair down, i would like it too but i just dont see it holding and then i think oh is it going to be too casual for my dress? then i go through the whole exercise of finding upstyle inspiration pics.
makeup im thinking of going for brown tones for my eyeshadow, peachy cheaps and natural glossy lips (well slightly glossy but not over the top so it looks like im drooling!) but then i keep hearing that i should have purple eyeshadow to go with the bm's dresses. ah the little things that get on our nerves!

Hopefully get my dress this month from duosheng. Feeling slightly nervous about it but i know it will be fine. Just need to keep on exercising. been slack in this rainy weather we've had.

Hi - Im in August - but Ive been reading July so I know whats around the corner...

Breesmum - I just checked your S&T and think your hair down would look lovely with your dress..I think if your hair down is what makes you feel the best - than go for it!

With the makeup - I think you should let your MUA decide what colours will bring out features... I've seen so many pictures of BMs all wearing the same eye shadow and it looks g

hey thanks Turbo.
I have my trial on Sat so i really do need to make a decision. I think i'll try it down first. If it doesn't stay then at least i know. I just hate having to waste the money on trying it out and i dont have the time here at home to test it out either or probably not the right products either.

Hi everyone.

Still plenty behind, but am catching up quick. i've done lots of bits that will hopefully tie together soon.

Ordering my dress from Duosheng hopefully by the end of the week. I'm not too worried about this as a friend of a friend has a business that buys and resells Duosheng dress. I've seen heaps of them and they are all gorgeous.

Having my MU and Hair trial at the end of the month. Using my MOH/Best friends 25th as a good excuse. I've got a few pics for inspiration but i'm confidant that both girls (MUA and Hairdresser - Friends) will know what suits me and what looks best.

Went shopping with my 1/2 FMIL (FIL partner) and brought all the things i need for her to make my fake bouquets. I'm having 4 BM, Me, a throw away, a Button hole for FH, 2 Button holes for F and FIL and 4 corsages for M, MIL, 1/2 MIL and Nan. All up it cost me $100, and that included ribbons and beads. I was pretty happy about that.

Hope everyone elses planning is well ahead of mine. lol.

Take Care

Still got my hair and makeup trial to go. Need to start sorting out bonbonieres and finish writing out our ceremony. Mostly everything is the last minute stuff.

Oh my goodness I can't believe how long ago I last wrote here - totally forgot about WC with everything else going on. Getting so close now ~80 days or so!!!

Bree - did you get your dress???? How is it?? I still don't have mine, I'm hoping any day now.... getting very anxious!

Pretty much have done everything I can do from this end of the world until I get back to Canada - but pay for it of course... wishing the lotto numbers would come through, or we found some long-lost rich uncle because this paying thing is really horrible! :)

Hey cdn, yep i got the dress a few weeks back now. I wasn't like omg wow when i first got it and have it in the alteration shop atm. It needs a few adjustments. Honestly though i think mine was a dud cause everyone else has rave reviews, i guess it depends on the seamstress and how they interpret the picture. I had rouching missing on the bodice. Anyway there are some pics in my S&T. It will look somewhat different once we've finished with it.

I wish we could have some luck with Mr Lotto too. I hate paying for it aswell but i guess to every fun part there has to be a downside.

We got upgraded to the ballroom for free at our venue so we are pretty excited about that. Saves us $1500 and we also get our own bar and our own catering staff so much more personal. Oh it even comes with all the lights for the dancefloor....yes i know its the little things that gets me excited but i had been looking into lighting for a while because i think esp for the first dance, it adds to the atmosphere.

Well i really should be going to bed. Hopefully we can get this thread up and running again now that we are so close.

Has anyone else had any wedding horror dreams yet? I've started!

My bridesmaid has been having horror dreams for me. I have been too busy at work lately so havent had time to do as much wedding planning but I am meeting with the reception place on 5 June to hopefully finalise everything/identify what I have forgotten to do

My RSVPs close a week today. I'm still waiting on 32 RSVPs. I've heard through the grapevine that 3 people arent coming...not sure when they're planning on telling me??

Are you guys going to follow up RSVPS or ignore it. I'm tempted to ignore because I gave people 7 weeks and an RSVP card so if you can't get that back to me...why should I have to follow you up?? I know that sounds bad but seriously wtf people!

Our RSVP's aren't due til the 10th of June but we did it that way as some are going to be last minute decisions. I'll probably chase them up if i dont hear from them.

I'm really regretting getting my dress made from D. The alterations lady i have is fantastic and doing all she can to help me out and make the dress look flattering. Yesterday i was feeling pretty crappy about it after going in for a fitting but I know i need to have some trust in her and her vision. Its causing some fights between fh and me cause i've been half tempted to get another dress and he doesn't see the point, thinks its a waste of money. I guess i'll just have to see how it goes before we make a decision. I'm trying to be positive today and have had a few more ideas so waiting til 10:30 so I can ring her. Feels like its going to take forever lol.

Oh Bree that's horrible! I feel so bad for you, it sucks that you're regretting it. It's making me even more anxious now because I've heard nothing for weeks and as each day goes by that I don't hear about the dress I get a little more anxious and stressed. It's terrible too that it's causing issues between you and FH too :(

I put a pretty late date on my RSVP's because people have to arrange time off / money for a trip to Canada, but now I'm regretting that because I need to know numbers people! I will chase them up, because I need to know how many are coming and what they're eating etc. But it is SO frustrating.
