How crazy is it that August is only a little more than 6 months away?!

I just started a new job recently so wedding planning was a bit on the backburner. Did go to two wedding expos during January; finally found a stationery woman we like, so we've designed our invites, place cards, menus, etc and have the quote for that, so now I'm just trying to finalise our guest numbers so we can go ahead with printing soon. We also locked in our celebrant with the paperwork and deposit and now have a little manual for how to organise the ceremony, so many cute poems, it's going to be hard to decide!! We also picked up our wedders a few weeks ago (pics in my S&T).

I've got some quotes I need to decide on; spoke to a Hair/Make-up company at one of the expos; their quote is about $850 for Bride, MOH, MIL and SIL for both Hair and Makeup and includes a call out fee - don't know if that's a decent price yet, so I'm waiting for other quotes to come through; would like to just book it in though and be done with it. I think I'll make it an excuse to go out for the evening when I eventually organise a trial.

How early do you think a trial should be?

I've got a quote for some decorations for the venue; so I'm weighing them up; and hopefully FH and I are going to Sydney in mid-Feb to check out our band at a showcase and lock them in if we're 100% on them. I've also booked our cake lady and put the deposit down on that.

I expect our E-shoot should be coming up soon too; so I'm semi-looking forward to that (want to have a chance to lose more weight before the shoot) and I've got $200 worth of Myer gift cards from MIL from Christmas so I think once the E-shoot is scheduled, I'll use the gift cards into a MAC counter and get a little make-over so I know my makeup is done nicely for the photos and redeem the rest of the $$ in products :-)

All up, so far so good. Need to go suit shopping with DH soon, and my MOH is going to speak to a dress-maker friend of hers about getting a gorgeous gown designed for her. Can't wait :-)

Slightly scared at how fast time is creeping up on us!!

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. Congratulations to everyone, just a little of 6 months to go until the big days for everyone. I'm getting married on saturday 13th august 2011 in Townsville. I am getting very exited but am starting to get scared/worried about what I have organized and haven't got organized. I hope all your plannings are going well and I am looking forward to reading future posts and seeing how everyone else is going

I just wrote a HUGE response to this and lost it all so this is all you're getting now :D
Sounds like you've been super busy! Congrats on getting the invites done, we are in the middle of designing ours now, so many pretty things to choose from!
Glad you got your celebrant too, quite an important part of the day
How did your cake and decoration decisions go?? I find getting quotes so frustrating! Half the people don't reply and the others are so hugely varied, you don't know if they are dodgy or rip offs!
How exciting for your E shoot, our photographer only does ours a couple of weeks before the wedding so she is familiar with our style and how we are in front of the camera, but I want one now!! Hope yours is great!?

Yep, can't believe there are only 6 months to go, it's flying now!
Off to look at your S&T now!

I'm having some serious dress envy, I opted for my dress over my dream dress because of the price difference, now after looking at all of your dresses I'm totally regreting it :(

In the process of writing the envelopes up for the invitations.
Haven't been able to find a car with a driver for the ceremony so it looks like I will be hunting around for a nice hire car and trying to find a friend to drive it.

Went to my ceremony and reception venue today after cyclone yasi last week to see how they stood up, reception venue is fine but the garden and stage for the ceremony has been completely trashed, fingers crossed that te council will have it fixed sometime in the next 6 months otherwise we may need to relocate the ceremony to a nearby pontoon.

I can't believe that we only have six months to go! It's so exciting but scary at the same time. :)

I'm going well with organising - dresses are done (except for alterations), suits are organised, got a celebrant, cake lady, caters, venue booked, hairdresser, ceremony musician, photographer and photo location booked, invites organised, STD sent out, honeymoon booked.

Got to organise make-up and decorations in the next few months. Also, have to decide on reception music - first dance song etc. We have a lot of ideas, so we just have to narrow it down. Also, need to meet with my friend who is doing the music for the ceremony and decide on what songs we want for that too.

So all in all, going pretty well. :) Good luck to all my fellow August brides with planning and organsing :)

I cant believe it, we have had to change our ceremony and reception venue 5 months before the wedding, bloody council and all the issues that come from having a recpetion in a council hall............ we have had to sacrifice some things in order to find somewhere to have it at short notice. We are now having a buffet instead of a alternative drop menu. We have chosen one of the local golf courses http://www.willowsgolfresort.com.au It is an older style venue but it is still nice and will look better once it is decorated (my mum is a function coordinator so she is organising the reception decorations) and we can have our ceremony onsite at any number of places around the course, and I have hired a decorator to set up the ceremony instead of the course doing it so it looks nicer then the pictures on the website. I just hope this all turns out for the better. I hope everyone elses plans are coming along nicely and you dont have any hiccups. Now I have to notify all the providers and let them know of the changes.....

Can't believe how quickly it is going! 5 months and 2 weeks for us today! You seem super organised, how are your make up and decorations coming along?
Good luck with your planning!

OH NO! I'm so sorry! I had a look at your new venue and it all looks great! I think it will look gorgeous, especially when you add your own style and decorations!
I'm sure it'll all work out for the better now, and hope you don't have anymore hiccups!

Not much interesting has been happening with our plans, just getting organised and starting to slowly out things together, like invites and centrepieces!
Hope everyone elses plans are going well!?

Well a change of venue and now a change in my dress. I said I was having some serious dress envy and it finally got the better of me, I have ordered a new dress from america yesterday, so hopefully it wont take too long to arrive. I am so exited, happy and so nervous all at once because of this. Here is a picture of the new dress, it is a Mori Lee Bridal Dress.

FH and I were actually talking about it last week and we were saying 'How scary is it, as of Friday we can say we're getting married next month!' lol

I'm looking forward to just getting to it and being done and dusted!

We haven't got much more to do, except finalise our song selections and the ceremony wording - and maybe alter the cake design because I'm not 100% happy and finalise our guest list etc..

I've now got a cold/chest infection, so I'm dying on the couch and can't be bothered with wedding plans lol

Hope everyone else is planning happily along :)

I'm August 6th and reeling from one panic attack to another at the moment.

I have a to-do list a mile long. All the big stuff is done, its the little stuff like fancy pens, and fancy cake knives and fancy everything else. Still have to finalise the guest list (it was meant to be done a week ago but FH added at the last minute and now we're having trouble tracking people down), the seating arrangements, the menu, the room set up, the dress fittings, the favours etc.

Our suit shop through us a curve ball a few days ago and rang and told us that they'd been sold and we could no longer get our suits from them. so gammin. 5 weeks out and they tell me they cant dress half the wedding party. I hadn't even put it together that its next month yet. I'm all about the week countdown...

Have got to a point where i'm not really excited about the wedding, just looking forward to the day getting here and it being too late to worry about anything.

Good luck everyone! Glad to hear that you are all pretty organised and ready for the big day.

I can't believe how fast it's approaching now!

I'm basically organised, it's just all the small stuff - choosing the types of lollies for the lolly bar etc.
