Hey Girls

Peony what did you have to have done (if you dont mind me asking?) i have to see the eye specialist this morning (on a sunday!) and i am terrified what he is going to say (never had anyone look at my eyes before)! How quickly is your eye going to take to heal?

Hope everything goes well for you!

I'd better get off here and actually go to my appointment!

How did your appointment go Adrienne?
You can call me Andrea by the way.. it feels kind of silly referring to myself as "peony" everywhere :P
Hehe

I had laser vision correction done on Thursday. Because I had the PRK procedure done, healing varies depending on the individual. I think I've been going really well so far so once the contact bandages are out tomorrow, i HOPE my vision will stabilise within a week.. but won't be optimal (like when I had glasses) for a month or even up to 6.. eek!
Oh well I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end. No more hot soups fogging up my glasses... no more greasing up my lenses if I go to hug someone and brush up against their cheek.. woohoo!!

Hey Andrea,

It'll all be worth it soon i bet!
My appointment not so good  I was hoping the Dr was going to say nah dont worry about it, it'll all go away, but no, he said i need a fairly involved surgey to remove a pterygium and then it will take months - upto a year to heal fully  And i have to go to Perth to have it and a week or 2 off work, but there's this damn thing in the way......just our wedding haha. So he was pretty good and said he would schedule it for Novemeber just after we get back from our Honeymoon! (something to look forwards to NOT!) I was hoping at worse he would say a fairly straight forward laser surgey would be required, but alas, it seems not. I went by myself this morning to the specialist (thought i'd let the other half sleep in) but i kinda wish he came with me as i got fairly overwhelmed (but i didnt cry until i paid the bill and walked to the car! then completely lost it once in the car! haha). And the worst part of it all! I only bloody changed our private health insurance from gold level down to silver about 3 weeks ago to save some money as we never use it! Damn it! I should also say the specialist appointment was fairly out of the blue as i only got a phone call on wednesday just gone whereas i went to the doctors over 8 months ago! and they told me it was nothing but they would refer me just for my piece of mind, to which i figured they hadnt bothered as i hadn't heard any more about it. Oh well... things could always be worse!

When you had yours done, are you awake? Thats what im scared of....being awake for it. As i said to the other half today, any other body part, go nuts! but i dont want to have to be awake for it.

Poor thing.. is it painful? I had to Google it.. it looks it!
Are you able to switch your health cover back up to the higher level? As far as I know, your waiting periods still roll over when you upgrade.. so just check!!

It sounds like you can still drive and get about okay though right? So that's great! You can enjoy your honeymoon and worry about it later, hehe..

I was awake for my procedure but it didn't bother me at all. With the anaesthetic drops I couldn't feel a thing and anything the doc did to my eye was a blur anyway.. there's nothing to worry about :)

Hey Peony,

It doesnt even bother me at the moment, just looks out of place, and most people dont even notice unless i point it out, so it doesnt worry me except when it gets a bit red. Mine looks nothing like on google haha. well i dont think so anyways! mine just looks like a small off white lump (basically imagine where dust has got onto your eye, and your eye trys to heal it and has caused scar tissue to grow over the dust). Cons of living and working in Kalgoorlie i guess. Apparently quite comon here due to the ridiculous amount of dust around here (Kalgoorlie is on the edge of the desert). Im going to go down and check out my health care today whenever i get time to get outta here!

Gosh that dust sounds terrible..
Can I ask though.. what's it like in Kalgoorlie? Is it laidback? peaceful?
A friend of mine is infatuated with the idea of moving to WA

Hi Peony,
We moved from QLD and it is a completely different landscape and WA is definantely behind the times in every way. Depending on the town they move to, Kalgoorlie, you either love ir or hate it and it quickly shows. You have to have a reason to move to Kalgoorlie for instance. Alot of people come for the money and leave soon after with a bitter taste in their mouth. Others say they will move for a year or 2 and stay for 15 years. We missed the beach so much when we first got here, we did actually drive down to Esperance (4ookm each way) and back again 1 day, just to have fish n chips for lunch and to see the beach! 2 & 1/2 yrs on, we deal with it, but are looking forwards to leaving next year. We really miss our family and friends and old life but we came here with a Plan and a reason. As with everything, its what you make it. If you come with the wrong attitude you will never last. We originally kept saying to each other how there is nothing around and nothing to do here, but when you actually look, there is a bit to see and do. We are into 4wding and camping and went on a day drive on the weekend and saw more places we've never seen and we only did 250km round trip and it took all day with a stop for BBQ lunch. Up north however, i've never been past Canarvon as yet, but we really wanted to move to Karratha or Kunanurra without seeing it for the 4wd scenery and things to do that we've read about. We've done most of the south west coast on holiday road trip and loved lots of places. All depends what you're looking for, but my advice is to have a reason (not just because) as if you dont try and fit in and work at it, you'll never like it and regret doing it. :) Hope it helps :)

WOW!! Thanks for the info!! I will definitely pass that on to her.. I have to say, you make it sound amazing esp with the 4WD expeditions.. there must be so much gorgeous scenery to take in. But yeah, big change from the beaches in QLD that's for sure!

LOVE those I Spy cards! We are putting disposable cameras on the tables so might have to make up some of those cards to make it a bit more fun :)

Righteo girls, where is everyone at?

Things i have left to do.....
Finalise numbers for catering & decorations etc (but RSVP isnt til 30th August still)
Make the I Spy cards - have printed them out but just have to put them together
Sort out the Chocolate Favours - should get my sister onto that for me shouldn't i
Mum is still shopping for table centres for me, but that wont be all together til i get home the week before
Girls dresses have been ordered - hope to see them delivered Late August fingers crossed
Need to print out the list of events cards i made up for everyone
Need to find some shinny nice white paper to print the name tag labels on for the chocolate favours
I think i have nearly sorted flowers out - have actually made a decision and working with florist via emails (frustrating i cant just go and see stuff!)
I have decided on a cake, waiting for cake maker to get back from holidays but should be all good - just need to sort out whether to go fake, real or iced flowers
Waiting for cake topper to arrive - ordered 2 weeks ago off ebay
Mum and my sister due to fly into Perth on 19th Sept for my dress fitting on 20th Sept! And mum will bring the shoes she bought me so i can practice for a month! lol - mum said she and my sister can walk in them so i should be fine! we'll see! lol!
Buy some Pavlova & cheesecakes for dessert table (will do that when i get home the week before)
I think i am actually organised to the point where there's not alot i need to do til October! 8O

Adrienne, that is awesome that you are so organised!!
So did you decide to go with the Lindt choccies then? (good choice  ) I know you can get pretty paper in bulk on Ebay. Have you tried scouring there? I know you said you haven't had much luck with your local craft shops so that might be an idea..

As for me, I'm the same.. only bits and pieces to do.. most big items are taken care of so I can relax!
I think when the RSVP deadline passes, there will be a lot more to do like organise seating etc
But for now I'm just enjoying seeing everyone elses plans come to life :)

You're doing better than me!! 45/160ish
I don't expect most of my side to RSVP properly, they never do lol

Not much to update other than I am driving MYSELF crazy changing my mind again and again and again!
I'm still umm-ing and ahh-ing about the flowers. Every time I think I've settled on a colour palette, I question myself!
Bright or pale, bright or pale, bright or pale...
pinks? purples? greens? all white?

*going bananas* :bdance:

Peony,

I know what you mean! I kept changing my mind on flowers too. I made a decison and i am refusing to look at anything else now! lol. Put some pics up of what you've narrowed it down to (on your s&T so we can match it with your other themes) and we might be able to help?

Fair call on the invite numbers

Hi guys!!

I'm back!! sounds like things are going great with everyone!

I have my amazing beautiful Wendy Makin gown (and got to meet her personally!!!) and basically everything is sorted, bar the favours! It was the busiest two weeks of my life, but it was fun! Its seven weeks from tomorrow! Starting to feel a little sick about it all!! ahhahhaha

The RSVPs have been interesting, Im also the 30th August and my bridemaid has yet to reply! wahhaha and then a few other dramas that are all sorted!

Do you guys just want to get this day over and done with? Im really super stressed and tired of thinking about nothing but it! never ever plan a wedding from overseas! hahahaha

I will second that last remark! - It painful planning it from the other side of the country too! I won't be recommending it to anyone!
My RSVP is the 30th too and i am still waiting on about half of them!
