Cheaper cupcakes than $2.90 Melbourne?

Tue Jun 30, 2009 3:55 pm

Hi gals

Has anyone found cupcakes for less than $2.90 per cupcake? That's the cheapest I have found so far for really yum "nice" looking one. Don't wan't anything too fancy but would like the icing to be piped and to obviously look nice and not cheap!!! Needs to be near the city too. Cheers

That seams pretty cheap! I got quoted $2.50 for sponge cup cakes and $3.50 for mud cup cakes in Townsville.

Hi Jodie,
I am very interested in you. Whereabouts are you in melbourne? I am in Geelong and am still looking for somewhere to get my cake from.

Hi! I'm in Melton, we're so cheap becuase honestly its just me and if I get desperate my poor partner is stuck greasing tins and cracking eggs for me hehehe.

My one aim was to make it achievable for people to have a nice cake for a decent price. My friend, before I opened my business got her cake on 'mates rates' for over $500 which shocked me! We have cakes that get into the couple fo hundred area, but honestly they are decorated with handmade flowers and are fruit cakes or something very extravagant!

I know its stupid and not good business sense at all, but I feel bad charging 10 times what it cost me to make the cake!

Lol sorry for rattling on, its just something I am passionate about

a fully decorated cupcake tower with 60 cupcakes, top cutting cake, stand hire and delivery (in mud cupcake flavors) from the eiffel tower is $280 and fro cupcakes by paolo is $275. Eiffel tower cake tastes fantastic, but I think cupcakes by paolo will be better decorated - so we are waiting on an appointment there for some taste testing and to see them in real life... MUCH better prices than we were getting to begin with which was $500=$600!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our prices are just under that erin, including delivery. so well done. Be careful about Eiffel Tower, there have been some anti recs on here, and some of our brides have been very disappointed with cake and icing flavours. Anything like $500 for what you want is daylight robbery.

Hi Seaweed, - what is your company..

The Eiifel Tower cake tasted fantastic - I am not sure what the icing would taste like. Our friends used them and had fondant which never really tastes like much. I wasn't impressed that they mostly have pics of other peoples cakes and say, yeah, we can do that... Very blaze and very little details given apart from - you can choose soft or hard icing....??? So yeah, still looking at this stage (pending that other appointment). I am not worried about a small amount of money difference, just that we get the stunning cake we want!

Sure Seaweed - that would be great. I wasn't happy with eiffel tower's attitude - they didn't seem to really care at all.... Plus, i don't trust I will like the icing which I didn't get to try - only the cake...

We are going to cupcakes by paulo on may 8th - but still interested if there is a similar offer out there!

2.90 sounds reasonable - Townsville is more expensive than that.

I am curious, Jodie, do you do the cooking of the cakes in your own home? I was thinking of setting up a little business myself for basic, easy cakes (at affordable prices) but the laws seemed so strict on needing a commercial kitchen. Is there a loophole that I am not aware of?

$2.90? I'd be stoked with that! I haven't found anywhere in Hobart that charges less than $4.00!!

do you mean ganache?

$4.50 seems expensive from other prices on this thread...especially considering piping on ganache isn't all that demanding.
