Self Catering - Afternoon Tea

Fri Mar 15, 2013 11:35 am

Our ceremory and reception will be held at home. We will have the ceremony at about 1pm and then will be serving afternoon tea. I'm thinking savory (hot and cold) pass around food and then after cutting the cake a finger food dessert table.

I'll be doing all the catering myself.

If you were a guest at my wedding, what type of food would you like to eat? I'm looking for ideas of tasty food that will be crowd pleasers.

Thanks

Finger Food I love-
Mini pizza
Quinces
Chicken skewers
Sushi
Sandwiches
Dim sims
Anything sweet that's bite size and not too messy

We did this for our engagement party - I was suprised how popular the sushi was. Ill have a look tonight and pull out the list of what we offered for some more ideas.

I totally second the Pinterest idea!

Thanks. Pinterest is my favourite method of searching for wedding stuff.

I have plenty of teenaged nieces and nephews to act as servers. Will be hiring in someone to run the kitchen.

I've become fasinated with shot glasses and chinese spoons and what can be served in/on them. I've got about 100 shot glasses and I'm thinking something like mousse, trifle, cheese cake in these. The chinese spoons I'm thinking thai beef salad, crab salad etc.

For me, this wedding is all about the food. It's the main topic of wedding conversation with my friends. Not once have we talked about the dress.

Self catering becomes a lot more do-able the less you have to cook, especially if you're catering for a large crowd.Keep it up
