is this possible???
I live in SE suburbs of Melb and would like a reception and ceremony in the one place.

$15,000 is easily doable.

First, you and your husband to be need to sit down and do up a budget. The easy weddings budget is a great starting point as it sets out almost everything you can possibly think of to pay for when planning a wedding.

The biggest expense is going to be the reception. Cocktail receptions tend to be cheaper than sit down, so this might be an option.

I think it will be a case of working out what is important (and what isn't so important) when you are allocating money to each item.

If you meant $1,500, unless you cut out the reception (or ask people to buy their own meals) I don't think it is possible.

Our budget is $15000 (not including the honeymoon) for 80 guests.

The biggest part of your budget is the reception and is the part we found the most necessary to keep costs down as your price per head is times out by 80/90 guests. Our reception cost is $90 a head and includes decorations, MC, DJ, 2 courses and wedding cake for dessert, drinks package etc.

I agree with Rhett's girl - you have to sit down and decide whats important and whats not. We decided that our reception, photography and our honeymoon where important (and well my dress). There are heaps of things you can do cheaply or DIY that will save your dollars - for example we are using wedding cars from local car clubs that FH is associated.

If you meant $1,500 you'll be looking at an outdoor ceremony with a BYO picnic lunch. You could dress yourself, DH, pay the celebrant and provide champagne and cake for that amount.

Which frankly is a perfectly nice wedding.

an Idea:

have a look at a reception which will start at 6-7pm

get ready (photos in the morning)

then meet up somewhere (you and your FH)

have a photo section

then go to the reception where you will have the ceremony done at the reception.
