Thus far we up around $6500 which includes: Photographer, MUA, Decorators, hall hire, flowers, ribbon for cake & cars, my accessories & underwear, bonbonnieres, celebrant, invitations & cake topper. Music & hair-dresser are free as friends are doing. My mum paid for my dress & BM's paid for theirs.

So I still need to add the costs for:
Suit hire for the boys
Other stationary

So, we are doing really well! :)

Ok so our wedding is 30,000NZD About 22,000 AUD aprox, but thats a week in Rarotonga, flights and the wedding. and also paying half of our wedding party, their partners, our immediate and their partners accommodation.

Then our honeymoon is costing us about $20 - 25k AUD but we are staying in some pretty amazing 4 and 5 star hotels in america and going for 3 weeks. (this also includes spending money)

SO its alot, but comparitive to both of our incomes and the $12,000 we got from our families it worked out quite cheap

Ok here goes, I don't know the total myself so I'm just going to find out now!
We started out with a budget of just $5000. I know we blew it but I guess it just wasn't that realistic, and a lot of things I just couldn't compromise,
so I ended up saying 'oh well I'm only doing this once' heaps of times! But I did scour the net and look for bargains wherever I could so I think it's still ok as far as weddings go...

Bridal Gown: [/b]About $1100 with all alterations (bridalgown.net yay!)
Bra/Corset/under things: $80
Hoop: n/a
Veil: $40 (etsy bargain)
Headpiece/headband: $5
Shoes: $50 (amazon)
Jewellery: $0 (borrowed nans necklace & bracelet and my stepmum bought my earrings)
BM's jewellery:$20 (super bargain from euip!)
Garter: $12 (ebay)
Suits hire: $600
Groom/groomsmen Shoes: $200
BM dresses: $550 (city chic off the rack- plus alterations)
BM shoes:$90 ( huge sale!)
Flowergirls dresses:$80 (ebay bargain)
Flowergirls shoes:$24
Bride Hair: $0 trial and $50 on the day (mates rates!)
Bridesmaids’ hair: $60 for FG's and BM's paid their own
Makeup: $80 for me, plus $120 for 2 previous trials. BM's paid their own
Pre wedding beauty treatments:$300
Nails: $40
Cufflinks$60 (sale!)
Clutch purse: $60 (forever new- but stepmum bought this also)
Dress dry clean: not yet

Bride Bouquet: $150
Bridesmaids corsages: $90 (much cheaper than bouquets but I loved them!)
Button-holes: $50
Flowergirls wands:$60

DJ: $385

Photography : $2200

Celebrant: $500

Decorations:probably around $200, for candles and holders

Cake: $550 (bit of a splurge for a small faye cahill cake)

Food/drink package: $3600 (cost price for 59 guests through my work including open tab on the bar)

Accomodation wedding night:$310

Bonboniere: $490 (couldn't compromise- I wanted personalised roc candy!)

Stationery: $385 33xinvites, gift cards and 62xplacecards

Cars: $400 (if you don't count what DH spent on his car which is probably more than the whole wedding!)

Bride and groom Wedding Band: $2500 (I'm ashamed to admit how much of that was mine  )

Honeymoon: $2500 accomodation and fights to melbourne
(plus about $2500 spending but this came from the wishing well)

TOTAL:$17851 oops surely that can't be right, I'll just add it again...

Ok yeah so I blew the budget and then some...No wonder I was always broke leading up!

Thankfully we got the reception cheaper because of work, otherwise that would easily be double, and I tried to even out my splurges with lots of bargain hunting.
There are probably some other things too, like I didn't count my emergency kit, boudoir shoot and honeymoon lingerie, laser hair treatments, solarium, extra hair appts etc

But in the end we had a perfect day and I don't regret it at all!!

Although I still don't want to show DH as he might faint!

Ill be honest here girls, I dont usually like saying this but
my first wedding not including hunnymoon had to be budgeted to $5000, at the age of 18 with a baby and NO help from either parents.
Let me tell you it was very hard but with a lot of help from friends it worked.
It was a beach wedding, most of it was done myself. A lot of people donated their skills like prof music, photgrapher, catering (chef), I made my ball gown for
$300 and it was one of those huge gowns, flowers were silk arranged myself (this time im going fresh), did our own makeup/hair hired suits, etc had it in a hall but even though this time im also on a budget i wouldnt do the hall thing again or the silk flowers, id make my dress again but will be getting someone to do makeup and hair, fresh flowers less people (had 100 last time) and smaller but this time but more quality and much better hunnymoon and photographer..

My first wedding 12 years ago cost $3000 but it was cheap and nasty and I had to cut out nearly all of my friends.

This time my fiancee wants our budget to be $5000. He is dreaming in a major way. The cost of everything other than reception, is already sitting at nearly that amount.

And I want a proper sit down meal for the reception and refuse to cut out my friends and family this time around, so I can't see the reception costing less than $5000 too.

This thread is so helpful!! Thank you all your posts. It's very clear how the little things add up quickly.

We had planned on a budget of $10K but we are planning a destination wedding and this wouldn't include the costs of our flight or accommodation. I have expensive taste, so I am starting to worry I will blow this budget. lol But if I set budget goals I should be ok...

we had an inital budget of about $25,000 but I honestly didn't add it all up, just made reasonable choices along the way & we figured we worked hard and weren't going to miss out on things because they were 'out of the budget'. But after a last minute venue change we ended up with a bargain for the reception which actually ended up bringing us in under budget. But i didnt include the costs of the things that I bought ages ago like the gifts for the bridal party, car ribbon, photobooth props, cake servers, invitations and all of those little tid bits but couldnt imagine them adding up too much.

Accomodation night before and of the wedding- 550

Dress, Veil, Shoes & Jewellery (includ garter & hoop)- 2500
hair & Makeup & beauty- 400

G suit & shoes & tie- 300
G ring- 300

gm suits- 1000
bm dress-600

ceremony- 650
ceremony musician- 180

I'm not married yet but I'm organised and have all my stuff contracted at the prices...

First up, my parents gave me 50k and my FH parents gave him 20k, to "start or life together" so we are very lucky. I thought I was being really stingy with my wedding, as my friends are paying 8000 for photographers, 10,000 for dresses and 300 guests at their receptions... but by the looks of people's posts on here, I feel like my budget is over-the-top after all...

Ah well, I guess each to their own, FH and I are very blessed that our parents are able to be so financially supportive.

Custom made stamp to put on all stationary $30
White business card fridge magnets for save the dates $30 for 60
White square cards with matching envelopes for invitations $25
Postage: $50

My gown: $2200 custom designed and made.
My Shoes: $120 custom designed and made.
My jewellery: $0 (gift from parentals, just pearl earrings)
Garter: $10, made it myself
Wedding band: $2750 custom designed and made.
Bridesmaids outfits: $500 (I bought their dresses from Shieke, Forever New and Myer, they supplied their own best dancing shoes)
Flowers: $20 handmade paper flowers (I loath real flowers)
Suits: $600 from Champleys

Make up/ hair
Me, 3 BMs and Mum make up: $350
My hair: $40 trial, $50 on the day
BM hair: they all want to do their own hair.

Celebrant fee: $500
Set up of furniture etc: $230
Hire of the park: $300

Hire of restaurant, all furniture and decoration set up, canapes and beer, wine, soft drinks for 110 guests for 5 hrs, including cake cutting fee and 12 dedicated waitstaff $12,000
Favours: custom printed pencils:$30 for 144 and recipe cards with my FH fabulous spat Bol recipe free (did them myself on the work printer)

7 hrs photography, printed 40 side album, unlimited hi-res photos on disc and all rights to images: $1995

Since my grandma lives 100m from the park, I will walk to the ceremony, and the restaurant we are hiring is in that same park, we only need a car to take us from the venue to our hotel. No dumb white ribbon either: amazing how much the price drops! $60

Wedding night hotel
$200 at the Kirkton

3 weeks in the USA : $10,000

Total wedding: $22090

With honeymoon: $32090

You can save in many ways but you just have to figure out what aspects are most important to spend the most on. For me it is photographer! I want those photos forever!

I agree with the last post. Spend big on what's important and save on the other stuff.
Our wedding is around $25 000 but about $15000 of that is the venue where we are having our ceremony and reception. If we had chosen a cheaper place our wedding would be about 20 000 I think, but it wouldn't be our dream wedding.

If you're struggling for cash I really believe in holding off til you can afford the wedding of your dreams. We set ours back by 6 months to give us the chance to save an extra $5000.

We also pushed it back to get a public holiday- we booked 18 months in advance but got a Sunday rate with a public holiday the next day.

Saved about $2000
