my parents are paying for our wedding and when we started planning, they asked how much i reckon it'd cost. i said i didnt want to go over $10k and i'm pretty much on target at $9.5k. included in that $9.5k is things FH and I have purchased but im glad im close to the budget because i feel bad enough already that mum and dad are paying

I am the same. Mum & Dad have insisted on paying for most of our wedding, then same as they paid for my sister's last year. I set a budget for my self of between $10-$15k and when I did my estimates it came to just above $15 and at the moment my actual costs stand at just over $13k with just over 2 months to go so am happy with that

My parents (Mum and Step father) are paying for most of our wedding. Mum has been saving since I was born for this day and she is over obliging about paying. In saying that we are paying around $25,000 ourselves and FH's Mum gave us a small contribution. Our total is currently sitting at $48,000 but that may change (hopefully not too much) 8O

Same but my dad paying for catering and mum a florist so total is about 11-13,000 but we saved alot by cutting out bridal party, using friends cars and diying as much as possible and asking around and getting lots of quotes

well FH and I have agreed on $20k max from us plus whatever the parents want to put in and I no my parents are looking at paying for the whole reception so we may not even spend $10k (which is great!! ) . At the moment my budget is at $23k.. I am expecting it to not go over $25k for everything besides the honeymoon..

We're having a destination wedding and our budget for everything (inc airfares, hotels, spending money, dress, etc) is $8000. Rings will be on top of that. Hopefully we can get a little bit of change back though! :P

Wow thats a pretty small budget for a destination wedding to include airfares, accom etc! Where are you thinking of doing it and how many people are you having?

Ok, will continue to update this as I go...

Wedding is not until 23rd April 2011 in Toowoomba but have already booked most things as I live in Townsville. We have HUGE families and have got numbers down to just over 150!

Dress - $490 including alterations (All Goods Townsville)
Shoes and jewellery - $59.80
BM dresses yet to be decided
Flowers - $290 Deane's Rose Farm, Highfields (Rose Bouquet for me, 2xBM bouquets, throw away bouquet and 10 buttonholes)
Venue - $650 for room, $150 for red carpet and chairs on 7th Green (Toowoomba Golf Club)
Nibbles between ceremony and reception - $225
Roast meal and dessert - $29.50 per person so total of $4425.00 (THANKS MUM!)
Photographer - $1460 (Lynrose Photographics) includes 50 photo album, 5 large prints ready to frame, 1 large framed photo and all photos on disc.
Celebrant - $380
Cake - $284 (Michel's Patissarie)
Bonbonierre - $160 (small spice jars from IKEA filled with M&M's and skittles with thankyou cards attached)
Table Settings - $400 (large vase on square of fabric with coloured stones and candle. These will be given as gifts for those who have helped also at the end of the night)
Accommodation for night before for MoB and BM's - $195.
Accommodation for me and him on night - $195 which includes champagne and roses and breakfast next morning
Invitations and stationery - $250
Wishing Well hire - $33

Yet to do:
Hair and Makeup
Grooms and groomsmen suits
Honeymoon

So far - just under $10,000.
Our original aim was for us to spend no more than $8000 and with the help of my mum paying for food at the reception I think it is definitely achievable.

The only thing that I refuse to go cheap with is the photographer. If I am going to spend all this money on a fantastic day for me and my husband, I want to have gorgeous pics to remind me for life. :D
