What a good idea, I was just sitting here thinking of what we need to change.

Does anyone know which ones you can change with the presentation certificate and which ones you need to BD&M's certificate to change?

I know you need the official one for your license, but can a bank be changed with the presentation certificate?

You can't change ANYTHING with the certificate you received on the day. That certificate is merely a keepsake. No one will accept it.

The BDM certificate is the only official document evidencing your married name. It is coded also. It's very easy to get your official certificate and start changing things from there.

A question regarding changing your name with the ATO, do you need to send them a copy of your marriage certificate or not? I have had a look on their website and downloaded the form but I cannot find anything anywhere to say that you need to. I am guessing you do need to but can anyone confirm it for me.

I am pretty sure you can do it over the phone by the looks of their website. The form doesnt say that you need to provide a copy.

Thanks Zoe, I had already started filling the form out before I realised you could phone them.

Now same question for the AEC (electoral commission) but you can provide your drivers license details which I have done and since I have already changed my name on that do I need to provide them with a copy of the marriage certificate (they also don't seem to state it!)?

I can confirm that you can change your surname with the ATO without your certificate and you can do it over the phone. :D I am not sure about the AEC though.

^^Ah, so I am guessing that they do some sort of a licence check and if it has your new surname, then they dont need the cert because you needed to show it to change your Drivers Licence.
